Cranberry uti

It was recommended for me to get cranberry juice to help with my uti but I HATE plain cranberry juice. Is it possible to still get the same results with cranapple or cran grape or some kind of flavor like that? Or does it need to strictly be cranberry??

I agree with the ladies. I never had to be on antibiotics because I nipped it in the butt with plenty of water, cranberry juice and cranberry supplement pills. I hope you feel better!

Oh that sounded terrible saying I was happy you had bleeding with uti. I just meant it makes me feel better that I'm not alone with this. Sorry if that came out wrong =\

Well I thought I could kill two birds with one stone by drinking the cranberry juice that may help with the uti and stay hydrated. I drink a lot of water for the most part but I thought I could mix in some cranberry juice also. Should I not do that? And I'm on pelvic rest so I won't be doing any activities :) and K- the fact that you had bleeding with uti makes me feel better. Although I still have to worry about the fetal pole. But hopefully all my questions will be answered Tuesday when I see the dr. Thank you all for posting. I really appreciate it!

If you're on antibiotics,  that should cure it completely.

If you have frequent bladder infections,  there are things you can do to help.

Try to stay hydrated all the time,  by drinking plenty of water.  Pee before and after sex.  When you wipe after using the bathroom,  wipe from front to back.  And you might want to avoid sex activities that involve saliva - yours and his -

The bleeding may be caused by the UTI, I had a UTI cause bleeding, as long as it's being taken care of it's likely it's just irritation bleeding.

I'm on antibiotics but I thought maybe the cranberry juice would help too. I just want to get rid of it ASAP to prevent anything from happening. I'm already having problems with bleeding so just trying to do anything that would help

It's unlikely that once you have a full blown uti cranberry juice will cure it.  Certainly,  as Ktowne says,   drinking the consumer cranberry juice doesn't help - it has to be that extremely expensive pure cranberry juice (about $17 a bottle).  The other stuff is mostly sugar and that will usually make a UTI worse.

AZO cranberry pills sometimes help.

You can try but girl you better drink that cranberry juice!! Ask about cranberry supplement pills too. I know I took them awhile back for a uti...but i wasnt pregnant then. If you can, you can find them with the vitamins at your local pharmacy

I asked my doctor this, too, and he said no because of the sugars in anything else, you have to get 100% cranberry juice, too, not the cocktail. I've found drinking a TON of water helps flush it out of my system quicker. Have you talked to your doctor about your UTI though? If it gets bad enough it can cause preterm labor, and it's much easier to get rid of with antibiotics.
