Crazy, never ending heartburn...

Okay so I'm at the point now where I almsto DREAD eating... EVERYTHING and ANYTHING gives me heartburn and it'll last for hours and hours and hours and hours!!

I tried tums.
I tried drinking cold milk.
I've tried eating a slice of plain bread to soak up some of my stomach acid.

I've tried every thing I could possibly think of and NOTHING is working anymore!

Usually atleast one of those things would calm my stomach, but now they don't do ANYTHING to me!

I mean, WATER... people... gives me f*ckin heartburn.
It's really starting to irritate me because once I get it, it ain't stopping.
I gatta go to sleep for a few hours just to get some f*ckin relief.

I think only a few hours out of the 24 in a day, I don't suffer from heartburn.

Does ANYONE have any suggestions or tips on what help them?
I'm willing to try anything guys I'm desperate at this point!

My husband does this...

Fill a cup with warm water and put a tablespoon of baking soda in it.
Stir it around and then chug it.  I know it won't taste very good, but he gets SEVERE heartburn and this is the ONLY thing that works.  It works better than any perscription ever has, anything over the counter, and anything that he would try and eat to absorb the acid.  Might as well try it!  Good luck and sorry you are having that!

Thank you so much ladies!

I'm seeing my doctor on the 3rd, so I will seriously ask him for some sort of heartburn relief.

And I'll try what you said babydreams, about not laying down right after eating.

I just had a bowl of cereal like a half hours ago and I haven't gotten heartburn yet, so maybe that could be a stopper somewhat until I can see my doctor.

I totally sympathize with you and I'm sorry you're suffering from it too! Mine is so awful that it makes me sweat, have upper back aches, and feel like I have a burning knot in the back of my throat. My glands even hurt. It's unbearable at times and wakes me up at night. Taking tums, I might as well be swallowing air - they do absolutely nothing!! My doctor prescribed me Zantac 150 and it has worked WONDERS. It prevents heartburn from happening in the first place. She assured me it was safe to take and that it will help prevent irreversable damage to your esophogus. I HATE taking medicine but sometimes it's just necessary when things are this severe; you and I don't have the average pregnancy heartburn, ours requires a bit more attention. I'm finally able to eat most things and get into my body what my baby needs, and I feel so much better overall. I highly suggest you have your doc give you a prescription, or go buy some Zantac off the shelf (after clearing it w/your doc, of course... but if you have insurance it'll be way cheaper to get prescription).........

PS - Also, be sure to sleep propped up w/a few pillows. It may hurt your back in the morning, but in my mind it's totally worth it! And be sure not to lay down within 2 hours of eating.

Ewww I know how you feel.  I had the worst heartburn with my pregnancy, it is funny because water seemed to give it to me just as bad as something spicy.  I even got crazy hiccups from it all the time.  The type of hiccups when you are so full, they come out of the blue...really loud and scare everyone around you.  I just started eating really bland food and always had my tums with me.  It never really worked!  Maybe talk to your Doc about it, they can probably prescribe something that is safe.  I am just not one for meds so I never went that far to ask.
For me giving birth was the solve all to all my problems (heartburn, acid reflux, carpel tunnel, severe pelvic pain, a ton of weight...haha, the list goes on and on!)

I am in the exact same boat as you...EVERYTHING gives me heartburn too and I have tried everything it seems.  I don't have any answers because nothing works for me, but I know exactly how you feel.  It is so annoying and it also seems like a have to burp a lot with the heartburn and I am always scared to because it is always more than a burp it seems.  I'm so sorry you are going through that too.

Tums! They are okay to take, and they have a Fruit Punch flavor that I really love. I understand where you're coming from. I had bad heartburn almost throughout my whole pregnancy. If I ate nothing. If I only drank water.. And it did not matter WHAT I hate, I tried everything just like you did.. Nothing helped but the Tums. They worked wonders.

On the up side though, I think that old wives tale may possibly hold some truth to it. I had hiccups almost everday due to my heartburn as well, and.. Riley was born with a FULL head of hair almost half an inch long. :)

Hi Riot_Queen,

I suffer from Alot ofHeartburn & it really does my head in!!

I normally just have to take Heartburn Tablets or Chewables to get rid of it!!

Im sorry you have it, when i get it i get it really bad & it wont go away!! I just ate beef soup & currently have heartburn from that!!

I hope yours disappears as fast as it comes. The only thing i can suggest is to take some medicine for it or eat the chewables - they seem to relieve me.

Get some chewable antacid tablets! They are bliss. Try some different brands though, some don't seem to work as well, and some taste like ****.
