If you are unsure, it's always best to go to L & D and have them test. But keep in mind that if you aren't leaking any fluid at the time they do the swab it could come back negative. If it does and you still feel you are leaking, wait a few hours and go back. That happened to me with one of my boys. I went in the am becuase I thought I was leaking and having some contractions. They said it was just urine and that my contractions were't anything to worry about. Over the next few hours I was still leaking and contractions got worse...my ob told me to go back after shift change. I got there at 330 that afternoone, they tested and said it WAS amniotic fluid and admitted me, my son was born at 654 that evening. It's ALWAYS best to sure.
I have had both of pregnancies water break and it started out at first slowly and the more I moved around it became a bigger leak. If you go to your doctor they will do a ferning test to see if your water did break or not! Good luck!
Amniotic fluid has almost a sweet smell to it. When in doubt check with the doctor. In the mean time make sure you are drinking plenty of water so you can keep replenishing fluids for the baby.
Thanks so much! I will do that....
Yes I agree have your doctor check.
Yes, it's possible to have a slow leak. You should contact your doctor and have them do a simple strip test to find out.
