Dogs and pregnancy

I have been doing some research on dogs and pregnancy.  I don't own a dog, but occasionally "baby sit" a friend's dog.  We live in an apartment and thus I need to take the dog for his regular walks.  My question is, is it safe for me to pick up the dog poo whilst I am pregnant.  Some research says to stay away from any animal faeces although it seems that its only cat faeces that are harmful.  Does anyone know the true facts?

I have 2 dogs and 2 cats.. Cat poop is bad,  and u can contract desease from it, very unsafe, as for dogs, there is no evidence that it would  harm u or baby at all. but by all means avoid it if possible, just cause its yucky... I still pick up dog doo all the time, but DH takes care of the cats.

If you NEEED too use rubber gloves, as well as picking it up with tissue and the bag at the same time, then wash your hands with soap and water THEN alchol gel them with the sanatizer stuff!!

I have a mini doxie. I def wouldn't get near a cat box...ugh! but I have a pooper picker upper lol a long one that clamps the poop so you dn't have to bend down or get close to it. I use that sometimes if my husband doesnt do it. otherwise I don't think it's too much harm if you don't have one of those :). I dont know for sure anything about picking it up with a bag in your hand or anything..but my instincts tell me you'd be ok. maybe do t quick! lol and hold your breath, keep it away from your face haha. or cacll a vet or doc to feel better, i call them for EVERYTHING...literally. i feel dumb sometimes but they expect thoes kinda calls. your just trying to keep baby safe. :}
