I took promethazine for meniere's and when ttc years ago, the dr Todd nee that it's harmful to an unborn child and that I should not take it
I got offered it but remember in school hearing about the medication they used in the passed was linked to infertile women born from mothers who used the drug during pregnancy. There also B6 twice daily.
For some people their big girl panties don't quite work. I am 23 weeks today and suffering from severe vomiting which has caused weight loss I would have had to quit my job at 6 weeks pregnant because my nausea is a 24 hour type not just morning sickness. Diclectin is the only thing that has completely saved me. The benifit out weighs the risk in my eyes. My baby is healthy.
And in all babies they check for a cleft lip/palette. That's part of the purpose of a 20 week anatomy scan.
I took zofran for quite a while and my baby is fine.
At my dr office if you have taken zofran they check the upper lip in ultrasounds because it can cause a cleft lip/pallet. After knowing that they are aware of the risks but willing to take the chances and catch it once its too late.. i didnt take zofran with any other pregnancies. I just put my big girl panties on and dealt witb the nausea. Its the safest way to just not take anything
I am a nurse and myself and several of my friends have taken zofran with no issues. It has been proven safe and studies show there is little to know risk with using it. There was only one supposed "study" that claimed it caused deformities and several proving otherwise. I also found it odd that I couldn't find the actual study just reports on it and the reports also mentioned Diclegis which also happens to be the only nausea/vomiting med that doesn't come as a generic.
A lot of doctors prescribe medications that could cause harm if the benefits outweigh the situation.
I only took it once and it caused really bad constipation, dizziness, and headaches. I also felt some cramping so I stopped immediately.
How about promethazine is that safe?
