hehe erm yep slightly :) a wee typing error there :), thats what happens when you try and type and control a kicking breastfeeding 1yr old lol
LOL @ Stacey!! I think she meant to put 10 not 19!!
I had my son without a stitch of medication/gas...nothing. The only thing they gave me was something afterward so I could birth the placenta. (It wasn't coming out in a good amount of time). And that's not even for pain.
I also had back labour and a 9lb 3oz baby!!
I am not one for pain AT ALL but I was sooo proud of myself when I did it. I don't know one person personally that has done it without anything. Even my mom had demerol with me.
A natural birth can be fab. I have had one induced and one natural and my natural birth would win hands down by anyone's standards! I used gas and air and even if I had wanted drugs there was no time anyway! If induction is necessary, I would personally recommend and epidural...I didnt have one and they terrify me but the pain of labouring with the Pitocin drip was awful combined with not being able to move as they have to moniter baby led to me having to have a forceps delivery which resulted in me having a bad tear. If I were forced into that position again I would rather have an epidural. In contrast, my second labour happened spontaneously and my baby was born 4hrs later, I had no tearing and it was a magical experience which I really hope I am lucky enough to go through again this time. Good luck to you, do your research and while its great to know what you want from your labour, be prepared to change your mind and dont be disappointed if you have to. The important end result is healthy mum and baby!!
I had a natural delivery meaning absolutely no pain meds with my first and plan to do the same with this one...i did however have pitosin to start contractions since my water broke early. I hear that makes labor worse and i still went without any pain meds...you can totally do it...it is intense but your body knows what to do...good luck!
I have had 19 babies abd they have all been natural, if you want to do it you def can, I would suggest doing an antenatal class and readin up on what to expect, its pretty intense, but if you give your body a chance it will produce endorphins which are your bodies natural pain killers, also using hot water is a good pain relief, in the shower, birthing pool etc, keeping upright and active during the labour and birth will also help as will taking raspberry leaf tablets from 36 wks if your pregnancy is progressing normally :)
