Epidural stories?

For women who have gotten an epidural, I'm curious to know if that has affected you in any way after birth like later on in your life? I've heard that getting an epidural causes you back pain after you have your baby or you'll have back pain later on in life & other women say they've never experienced anything afterwards, others say that their back has been very messed up after getting in. Obviously while your in labor, everyone knows that the epidural is like your bestfriend at the moment lol but has it caused any "side affects" I guess you can say, afterwards? I will definitely get it if the pain gets too intense for me (ftm) but my bf really doesn't want me getting it due to the fact that my back has been very messed up for a while & only gotten worse since being pregnant but I know if I really need it, ima get it regardless! *sorry for this being to long* but like I said, I'm curious to know if any of you already moms have experienced any problems with epidural after having your babies.

My doctor told me if you want an epidural you have to plan it he said it's not something they can do if it's not a part of your plan. They can give you other pain meds but an epidural has to be prepared for you or something. That at least what my doc told me so  maybe you should talk to your doc and see if it's something you can decide last minute.

I have a little scoliosis in the bottom part of my back, and I still got the epidural. I was 7-8 cm by the time I was able to get it (I was 5-6 when I arrived at the hospital) & I welcomed it with open arms!!! lol

my aunt had problems after getting it back in the day, but honestly (just my opinion) I put it in God's hands!!!! I've had absolutely no problems since, and I'll definitely do it again! no one could believe how fast my labor went, and I almost missed the opportunity to get it..

congrats & good luck! just listen to your body.. maybe I could've handled the last 2 cm & birth, but I honestly was scared to put the stress on myself or my sweet boy, so I enjoyed my epidural. plus, it allowed me to rest before all the pushing!! (((:

I had it with my first and it was great! I was worried cause I have a back defect from birth (missing discs) but had no side effects at all so I'm all for it this time around again

I've had two and plan on it again this time around. Just do as the anesthesiologist says and you will be okay. :)

I get a little sore in the spots where they stuck me but I have had two and will be having a spinal this time.

But no. Nothing crazy that would make me think you needed to avoid it

I had an epidural with my first baby, I took such a good nap after I got it& was ready by the time pushing came around. After I didn't feel any pain or notice any side effects. It will hurt your back more if your baby is facing up, because the back of the baby's head will be pushing on your tailbone. It's always nice to say you did it naturally, but It's not a bad thing to have some relief you are doing a beautiful thing. (: good luck!

I had it with my daughter with no side effects and thay was 5 yrs ago. Plan on doing it again this time around. Needles scare me to death but when your in thay kind of pain you don't care at the moment lol. Some women handle it like a champ. I'm a BIG baby when it comes to pain. I can only take so much.

I know I had it twice in my back for both my kids and the last time I had it, I just seemed to have a negative reaction where it made me itch all over hours after I had my baby. As for my back I never really thought much about it but there are times when I am standing up doing my daughters hair and I begin to have back problems in that same spot they stuck me in. This time I am opting out of getting an epidural. Trying to go all natural. Pray for me.lol
