Facewash while pregnant?

I did not know you were not supposed to use facewashes containing salicylic acid while pregnant and now I am 20 weeks pregnant and had been using it throughout almost all of my pregnancy until just recently. Do you think this will cause a problem? It really worries me.

I have never heard this either. I am so glad you brought it up.  Me and DH are TTC.  Glad I know before hand.  I believe it is just one those precautionary things though, you know better safe than sorry.  So if you used and your children are fine, it may be not such a big deal. But I would definitely rather be safe than sorry.  Thanks for post, I appreciate the info!

Oh man, I never new that and this is my 3rd pregnancy.  I have used it through all of my pregnancies and my kids have all been ok.  I'll have to ask my doc about in next week at my appt.

That's true - salicylic acid has not been proven "safe" during pregnancy, but it is also not guaranteed to cause problems either. If you've been using it in a facewash and not a topical cream that stays on the skin, at least the salicylic acid was only on the skin for a short period of time and then rinsed away. Try not to worry, and don't feel guilty about something you didn't even know about - just change to something else now (I like Neutrogena's Extra Gentle face wash, it contains no soap or hard chemicals) and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy. :)
