Feeling less movement

I am at 26 weeks, and earlier this week, I first started to feel real kicks.  I was so excited and getting used to the kicking, but today I barely feel anything.  A few weeks ago when I hadn't felt any movement, I called my doctor and he checked me out and told me everything was fine, so I feel silly calling him again because I haven't felt as much movement today.  Does anyone else have days where they don't really feels kicks?

Thanks everyone for the input.  I have felt a couple of thumps here and there the past couple of hours, but it was so much more consistent earlier in the week.  I drank lots of cold water, and even had a soda (for the caffeine even though I shouldn't).  If I don't feel it pick up tomorrow, I will call the doctor.  I just really don't want my doctor thinking that I am a nutcase (although he probably already does.)

I totally understand! Feeling kicks is such a blessing & an exciting thing, but also poses a whole new batch of worries because then you panic if you DON'T feel them! You're at the same time I was when my baby's movements were really inconsistent. I totally freaked out at 27 weeks because I hadn't felt him move in a couple hours. I called and they had me come in for an ultrasound, and of course he was totally fine - moving all over the place on the ultrasound screen! Turns out he was doing a lot of "twirling" and not so much kicking, which is harder to feel. Once I hit about 30 weeks, his movements were more consistent. Now they're very consistent and I know his schedule. But all babies have on days and off days, so keep that in mind... my baby still freaks me out on occasion by taking an extraordinarily long nap here and there. What always works for me to get him moving is ice cold water on an empty stomach, or chocolate. Those two things always get the little man 'a movin. :)

My baby does stuff like this all the time.. I have already been to the ER once and called my doctors office twice since I have started feeling him kick.  Hes so lazy!! It drives me nuts! lol but then there are days when I cant get him to stop and that drives me nuts too!! Babies are all different so some people might have a baby that never stops kicking, some people might have a baby that barely ever kicks, and some people might have an inconsistant baby.  Ill be 28 weeks tomorrow and I have been more put at ease now that he is getting to big to even move around without me noticing so everytime he twists, turns, bumps, or nudges I feel him.  Don't worry about your baby being inconsistant, Pretty soon you will be able to feel it move alot as the space in there gets more limited.  :D

I have those days also.  It seems to be on the days that I am more active, the baby seems to be more mellow and calm.  But on the days when I am lazy she moves all over the place.  Kicking me like crazy.  On the days when your baby isnt as active, try drinking a big glass of ice water and if that doesnt work drink a glass of ice cold apple juice.  Apple juice has a bunch of sugar to give your little one energy.  One of those usually works for me.  Good luck.  Try not to worry.

I've heard that some babies can be more active at certain times of the day or in certain situations (after you've ate, if you cough/sneeze, at night).  I've read that for doing 'kick counts' you should pick a time of the day when you've felt the baby moving before.  I know my little one starts rolling around in the early afternoon around 1 or 2 ...but yesterday s/he wasn't.  Today, baby decided to move earlier ...around 11.

Maybe try snacking on something or drinking some milk or OJ to get baby going.  Then go sit on the couch or at your computer and see if the baby gets to kicking.  If you still feel nothing, call your doctor.  Don't feel bad about 'bothering' him ...it's his job to make sure you and your baby are in the best possible health.
