Flying while pregnant.

I heard the only worry for flying when youre pregnant is that you will go into labour on the plane. Im flying 6 hours tomorrow and just wondering if there are any precautions I can take or be prepared for. Ill be 13 weeks. I flew at 6 weeks also and was fine. Thanks :)

it's been all over the news. Like  I said it doesn't even make sense to me....I get why they're doing it, but terrorists are going to find ways around it, and it's going to **** a lot of people off...it's the reaction to the Christmas Day Undies bomber I guess.

hahaha, that's funny!  I'd do the same thing in early pregnancy!  I'd probably cry like a baby teething if they didn't let me pee!

So where did you hear about this new law?

yep. new law. doesn't even make sense if you think about it. and i've got to be honest if I'm on a plane and, say, 32 weeks pregnant...I'll be honest. I'll say "either you let me up to pee or I will pee right where i am." lol

I guess it may just be the US...

here you can't get up in the last hour because apparently that's when they assume terrorists will strike. So the terrorist who is politely asking to use the restroom 30 mins before landing...gotta watch out for them. I guess it's because if somebody gets up during the last hour they get tackled automatically by the air marshalls....some poor old person with alzheimers is going to get up to pee and get dog-piled.

I flew at about 20 weeks (I believe), and I was fine.  They won't let you on a plane if you are in the third trimester with out a note from your dr saying it's necessary.  If you "look" like your really pregnant getting a note from your dr saying when your due date is could help decrease any issues.

I had a breakdown at the airport when I went with my first pregnancy, they only had fast food, nothing healthy, and I was starved!

What about the last hour thing?  I've never heard that!

Why not the last hour? Any idea why I could be so insanely itchy all over too? I thought it might be my detergent but I dont know. Like all over my back, my knees, legs... works!

Remember the new rule about not getting up during the last hour..so ask the stewardess to let you know when it's about to start so you can go pee!

I flew when i was around 2 months pregnant and I passed out( My flight was 3 hours) It happened probably because I was dehydrated, havent had much to eat or just my blood pressure dropping. Stewardesses said it can happen. But when I flew back everything was fine. I think you ll b fine as your nearly on ur second trimester

My doctor said I can fly up to 36 weeks when I do get pregnant and the flight I'm talking about is about 16 hours, no I didn't mistype...16 hours. So I think you'll be fine. I flew at 6 months with my son and I was fine.

You are fine. I'm 32 weeks and asked my doc if I could go on a trip to Miami and she said that since its only 2-3 hours its cool, The bad thing of a longer trip is that the turbulence can open your cervix. But you are way too early to worry about that so you're fine!

As long as your dr oks it you are fine I know you ahve to have a dr's note when  you are past 24 weeks only. Be careful though but you should be fine. Flying can cause you to go into preterm labor for some. It happened to both of my cousins when they flew.
