Gaining way too much!

This is my second pregnancy, and with my first, I gained 55 pounds. My beginning weight this time around was 125. I was convinced that I was going to gain the recommended weight this time. I was doing great until about 20 weeks, and now I'm gaining about 3 pounds a week. I'm up to 150. I really try not to overeat, but if I don't have a snack every couple hours, I get extremely nauseated. I try to eat healthy, and cut out all the junk food, and I do ok, but I know there's a little room for improvement. Are some women just destined to gain a certain amount no matter what they do. I don't want to diet while I'm pregnant, but what can I do? I'm trying to excersize, but I can't do it much because it makes my hips hurt so bad I can't walk.

Dr. did make a snide comment one week when i gained 9lbs in a month. I dont feel like i eat too bad but before i got preggers i never ate...i think my body is storing everything.

Good luck to all of us!

I've worried about it too. I am 16 weeks pregnant with twins and have already gained 20 lbs! I started off before pregnancy at 110. I did invitro and the fertility drugs put me up to `120 and now I am 140! My doctor hasn't said anything to me, but everyone else in the world does because of course I am showing so much more than "I sould be" according to people I look like I'm 5 or 7 months. I am five foot 3 inches tall. I've gained the weight all over. First before my belly even started to show my hips, theighs, butt and boobs grew at least 2x their size. Now my belly is growing and all else seems to have slowed down but is this normal? Even for twins? Is my doctor not telling me something?

I eat fairly healthy and have a cookie or chips sometimes but don't over do it! I eat healthier now than before pregnancy- and i never put on a pound then!

HELP!

I am in my 30th week and I have gained 30 lbs. thus far... and I am 4'11.  My doctor laughed at me when I asked if I was gaining TOO much weight!  She said "Nope... you are going to be a 40lb. girl".

Your body will gain what it needs to, to produce a healthy child.  Obviously, that is assuming you are eating healthy.  So, don't worry about... I think that it is more of a stereotypical image that a woman is "supposed to" gain between X and Y for weight during pregnancy.  Just a personal opinion :)

Unless your doctor has said something to you, than just try and eat healthy and your body will store what it needs to for the baby, birth, and breastfeeding.

I think if you are hungry it is your bodys/babys way of saying feed me, as long as you are trying to keep it on the healthier side, I think you are fine, baby is a growin mama!! LOL

I would eat all of those things as a snack. I eat when I am hungry. I have gained 40 + pounds and am 37 weeks, my Dr. says I am fine..

** I don't eat all of those things for a snack, those are examples of ONE thing I might have...After I re-read my post I was afraid someone would think I was eating it all or suggesting it all!

Perhaps you should try to increase your protein...that helps you feel fuller longer.  You can always talk to you doctor about it and see what he thinks about the weight gain and any recommendations he/she has.  I know for me, around 20w I started to just be REALLY hungry!  I need to eat big meals in order to tide me over or I need to snack in between meals (orange, string cheese, english muffin...I try to keep it healthy although with Christmas and the cookies my mother brought over to us, I'm having a hard time!  I was doing soooo good until this month!  Gotta love the holidays!)

I would talk to you doctor about it. I know that being smaller already you gain more weight than someone who is overweight before pregnancy. If you are concerned that the weight gain is due to unhealthy eating then i would start a food diary of everything you eat in a day, and then observe it, and try to cut out what isn't necessary. When you need to snack, grab an apple, or grapes. If you feel you must have carbs, snack on some pretzles, or something like that. You may just need to tweek your diet a bit. Otherwise i think you are ok. BUt if it's not your diet, then talk to you doctor about it.

Good luck!
