HCG Level at 5 weeks

I found out that I was pregnant with a hpt on Jan 22, so I went to 1st dr appointment on 1/27 a friday and the stats came back at 5 weeks preg with 780 hcg levels, also I have been spotting everyday and my dr told me that I should not be at all, the color of my spotting is brown at times and red at times, she has called me back in three days to get retested to check my hcg levels and make sure they are healthy.  She did a US with her machine and she did not see a sac or anything but also told me that that is normal since her machine does not pick it up at time and she gave me the order to get an ultrasound once my hcg levels reach 3600.  I would like to know if 780 is normal for 5 weeks and is it going to be a miscarriage since I have been spotting? Any help would be appreciated.

I had my stats done and my hcg went from 780 on Thursday to 4000 on Monday, I had my US today and they only a sac and said that this is normal since I am 5 weeks and not 6 weeks, so they said they will tell me to come back for another US. So hopefully at the next US we will see something.  Thanks for the support it really helps.

Hang in there hun!!!! Im 6 weeks pg.   I went to the dr yesterday cause I felt tightness in my abdomin.I have been coughing alot though.  I did have a slight very slight tinge of brownish color when I wiped the day before..  So I went down to the dr and mind you it wasn't my normal dr either. I ended up seeing a nurse practitioner.   Anyways she did blood work and my hcg dropped 19 points from 3 days ago..  I do not have any bleeding currently..  The np that I had seen basically said that I would be miscarraging in a couple days..  I feel fine and I hope she is wrong.  When they did do the US.  We did see the babies heart beat and it was 100 beats a min.. Im hoping that everything is fine and the NP is wrong..  I just would recommend to anyone not to see an NP, unless it was just the one I seen.  She was a very Neg person..  Prayers

If you are going to miscarry bedrest isn't going to help you at all. It can be totally normal to bleed during pregnancy. With my first daughter I bled from weeks 5-10 worse than a period, bright red with clots and cramps. It was due to a subchorionic hematoma that they didn't pick up via ultrasound until 8 weeks. I know that bleeding is scary but brown blood is old blood. I was just told no sex and no extreme excersise but other than that I was allowed to continue my normal routine. The bleeding magically stopped at 10 weeks and now I have a healthy 3 year old. Your levels for 5 weeks look fine. I would ask your doctor to repeat your blood test 72 hours later to make sure they are doubling.

i met someone on another med site with the same symptoms as you are and she lost the pregnancy the following week. no strenuous work please. eat fruits & veg with lots of magnesium and potassium.
