HCG levels going up but having spotting

I am really scared and nervous about this pregnancy. My Dr. says that I have miscarried but my HCG levels are still going up. If I have miscarried this would be my second this year. We have been trying for 2 years and started Clomid January of 2009. I took my last cycle of Clomid in Sept of 2009. We were going to see a infertility specialist the day after I got a positive pregnancy test.

I got a positive pregnancy test at the Dr. office on 10/20, we figured I was around 5 weeks. That night I started spotting. I was spotting everyday till 10/28. Not a lot of spotting. I only needed one panty liner a day. We did and HCG test on 10/21 that was 34. At that time my Dr told me the number was to low to be pregnant. So we did another HCG on 10/23 an that was 45. Still spotting but not cramping or pain. We did another HCG on 10/26 and that was 71. Did another HCG on 10/28 numbers were 111. HCG on 10/30 was 196. I had a vaginal ultrasound yesterday but couldn't see a fetal pole or HB. I asked for another HCG and it was 496 yesterday. I know they are low numbers but they are still going up. My Dr wants to do an in office D&C tomorrow .

Why are my numbers going up but not being able to see anything? My Dr. really didn't answer my questions yesterday.

Just wanted to let you guys know that I had another HCG blood test on Monday the 9th, my levels have dropped by about 100. After talking to both my Ob and Inferitilty specialist we decided to a D & C on Monday afternoon. I had to do an in office procedure and it was the most painful thing I've ever been through. We are going to start testing with my next cycle and hopefully start gonatropin injections in January!

i wish you luck hun but hcg levels that are not doubling or increasing my 60 percent doesnt look good! i had a miscarriage in july 09 and my hcg levels rose all the way up to 9000 but they took 4-5 days then 6-7 days and finally at 8 weeks the gest sac disappeared!!! fyi the gest sac never produced anything inside it!!!! good luck a miscarriage is horrible but be optimistic i have seen stranger things!

As I was reading that, I was praying you decided to wait. And I would get a second opinion for sure. You maybe aren't as far along as you think, maybe that's why nothing showed on the ultrasound. I'm so glad you decided to give it some more time, let us know how things develop. Ill be praying for growing HCG!!

I called the specialist we were going to go see and she said to wait a week and do another hcg test before doing a D & C just to make sure I am m/cing. So I got it changed having another blood test on Monday. We'll see what that shows and make a decision then.

I would definately not do a D&C until you are absolutely sure that you have lost the baby!!  If I were you I would ask him if you can wait a week and get another HCG and ultra sound..if not i would go to someone else. It will not hurt you to give it another week and will be well worth it if it turns out you have a healthy pregnancy..and more then likely by then if you are indeed mcing you will have started naturally..which will allow you to try again sooner if you could do it naturally.
