HCG levels

After my period being 5 days late my doctor sent me for a beta hcg test. The results came back at 10. He told me that I would have to re-test in a week because the levels for pregnancy can range from 5 and up. Its two days later and I am having some bleeding which I am assuming is my period. However, I know it is possible to have bleeding during early pregnancy. So should I still go get the test done next week or just leave it alone now? My only concern is that my hcg level was 10 which is over 5... Any thoughts or similar experiences?

You'll probably get your results tomorrow. With HCG that low, and the bleeding, it doesn't seem very optimistic. But good luck to you.

I had this same thing happen to me about a month ago. I started bleeding after not having a period for a year and just thought that my period was coming back. When I went to my gyn they told me I was pregnant but was most likely going to have a m/c. I bled and then stopped bleeding then started back up again a few days later. My hcg levels were at 71 and when i got them done again they were at14 which means I m/c. Do you have any cramping or anything? Please keep us posted and I will be praying for you. Good luck.

Ok, so after I started bleeding yesterday afternoon it stopped by suppertime. So I went the rest of the evening without any blood but when I got up this morning and went to the washroom there was blood again. Both times the only thick/heavey blood is when I first notice it and then there is not even enough to wear a tampon. I'm really confused about whats going on. Is it even possib;e for me to be pregnant if I have any heavey bleeding? I'm debating going out and buying a hpt while I wait for my re-test wed. Has anyone experienced this before?

it certainly wouldn't hurt to have another test done nect week....unless you get a period that you feel is DEFINATELY a period......Hcg levels should double every 48 hours in the beginning....There's a good link telling where you should be at during pregnancy.

if you type that in it will bring the page right up....good info.  Good luck.

Its possible that they just caught the pregnancy early on and that you then ended up having a miscarriage. That is the thing about blood tests in that most of miscarriages happen before people know that they are pregnant.

Harriet19 it is possible to bleed during pregnancy and for it to be completely normal. I bled for weeks 5-10 and I'm now 37 with a healthy little girl. I hope everything works out for you as well and I think that you should get the hcg test done. Please keep us informed.

i know the last time i went into the doctors and got a blood test, they called me and said i was pregnant. that night i started to bleed, I went into the doctors two days later and the said that my level was 4 from the last test. Which is considered "not pregnant". Why they told me I was pregnant, I have no idea. But all in all, I would get the next test done, i wouldn't cancel the appointment or anything.
