Hair Dye

At what week is it safe to dye your hair? I really don't want to but I'm doing my maternity pictures and my hair is a WRECK. Is the whole thing about you can't dye your hair while pregnant thing because of the fumes? & if so would it still be safe if I did it outside with the air (hopefully no one drives by)

I would suggest going to a salon vs box colour just because box colour has a high volume of peroxide & amonia, whereas at a salon they can use a lower level which means less fumes.

I did mine in the beginning of my second trimester and it was completely fine. My baby is completely healthy and I'm 34 weeks!

There isn't any proof on hair dye effecting the fetus. I've dyed my hair used Ammonia free, found it at cvs the revlon brand, it'll say it on the box.. Um I left all the windows open kept in for 20 mins instead of 30-35.. I was going dark and my roots are naturally dark so I didn't rub it in my roots. But over all it's safe. I wouldn't bleach my hair though.

It's the ammonia in the dye that you have to worry about. If there's no ammonia then just go for it whenever you want.

My dr gave me the OK to dye my hair when pregnant. She said it doesn't effect the baby. It's an old wives tale. My stylist also said that the only reason she doesn't like to do it much is because your hormones can effect the color your hair comes out. Nothing that effects the baby though. I've been getting my hair done.

I just colored my hair last week and im 36 wks, right now,  it's an old wives tale about coloring your hair. It was the first thing i talked to my doctor about and she said you can color while pregnant. If you are worried about the smell bothering you, doing it outside is a good idea
