I agree. You can stay dilated for weeks before labour starts. I would advise you don't check yourself though. Especially if you're not sure what you're doing. You can introduce infection and bacteria to the baby and cause more harm than good.

Dilating early doesny mean youll go into labor early. I got put on bedrest at 32 weeks and was 2 cm 80% effaced at baby was at a -1 station. I was given the steroid injections and told Id have her early and didnt have her until 39 weeks.

I've had 2 children born early at 26 and 27 weeks and now they are healthy 4 and 6 year olds so there's a good chance your baby will be fine if born early

I felt a big bulge at my cervix  that I am pretty sure was my bag of water  with my son and he was born hours later but I was also bleeding very heavily and in a lot of pain from placental abruption so everything went fast. I would carefully monitor it to make sure it doesn't get worse then call your doctor in the morning

Why would they induce you at 34 weeks? What was wrong taht they needed to induce that early? Just wondering, I know they do that for Toximia, I have a friend that had that happen.

36 weeks is never full term and never should be considered as such! They babies brain is only about 70% developed at that point! Many babies even born at 37-38 weeks have respitory distress cuz they are just not ready! It takes a full 40 weeks for a baby to develope fully! Even though some are born earlier and fine they are not really fully developed!

my daughter was born at 33 wks and weighed only 3 lbs. Luckily if they have a feeling you will be delivering early they should be able to give u a set of steriod shots to mature the baby's lungs. I had this shot and although it didnt feel good My daughter was born and let out a huge scream right away! so it can be done! good luck, oh p.s.- I know if you've already had a baby premature then you are more likely .. but 36 weeks is normally considered full term to most.

Is he just basing his thoughts that you will go early because of your previous preg? Cause my first son was 36 weeks and my second was 41

I had my son at 34 weeks, and that to me was fairly early. They do a test to test the fetal lung maturity and he was ready so we induced, good luck

If your baby is born now the chances of survival are good. Technology is a lot different for us now then it was year's ago. The baby's lung's won't be fully developed, so it would require a shot, and a stay in the hospital.... If you have to deliver early, for whatever reason then they will try and get you to at least 35 week's. That's when the baby's lung are fully mature. Is there any reason why they don't think you'll make it that far ?
