Has anyone had a negative HPT days after a missed period but still ended up pregnant?

I have been having symptoms for 2 weeks now and I was sure i was pregnant, but im 3 days past my expected period and still getting a negative test result. Im wondering if maybe i conceived later than expected and its still too early to tell? Has anyone had a negative result days after missed period but ended up showing a positive later? And if so how long did it take to get the positive?
I have a DR's appointment Wednesday so I'll be talking to my OBGYN also.

Thanks for any input!!

So my blood test came back negative as well. But the doctor said to retest if i dont get my period in the next week. so what are the chances i could still be pregnant if blood work isnt showing it yet?
I hate not knowing whats going on!

I was 9 weeks pregnant before I could get a positive HPT with my first pregnancy. You could go to the doc and get a blood test and they can tell even if you're only a few days pregnant.

Congrats!! Do you know boy or girl yet? o many of my friends are pregnant or just had their baby and they're all girls :)
I really believe that i am but these negative tests are so frustrating!! After hearing that y'all had the same experience though leads me to believe that I am still. So, I guess its just more waiting :/

I took one 9 days  after my missed period and it was negative. I took another one 5 days later and sure enough I was pregnant. Now I am 25 weeks and hoping that the rest goes by quick

Were you having symptoms before your missed period?

I have been using the First Response in the morning. With both of my pregnancies i started having symptoms 2 weeks before my missed period and with my first i showed positive before my missed period and then with my second i tested the day after (negative) and a week later positive.
Hopefully I can get the blood test done tomorrow to know for sure. Its not usual for me not to get my period by now.
Thanks for the comments!

If what you feel is due to pregnancy it stands to reason that the hCG hormone would be more than high enough to be detected by a HPT. OTC pregnancy tests are now sensitive enough to pick up trace amounts of the hCG hormone and it's very rare that a female doesn't show up on a urine test. What times of the day are you testing, and what brand of test do you use? For example, if you use a low sensitivity test and you're testing at night it stands to reason your test could be negative while you are pregnant. This is from the urine being too diluted to show an accurate result and the test not being sensitive enough to detect the hormone. For best results you want to use a good test (First Response is the best) and take it with first morning urine. If this is still negative, you need blood work to check your hCG levels. If they're under 5, you know for sure you're not pregnant.
