Yea, your right about it having to run it's course. I was really worried about my son though. He's immunocompromised because he has down syndrome, and he was a heart baby. I watched him like a hawk while he was sick but he's ok now, all (mostly) happy again, lol. The hard thing was being sick at the same time as he was.
Well, let me start off by saying both of my children have had it. My youngest is 1, she had it last week. It started off as a bad cold. With a bad fever. It did not affect her lungs. Just gave her an Ear infection. She did tes positive for it. Now my 9 year old has it now. So far she only had the fever. And the cold. I did take her to the doctor also. And she to tested positive.
From what I have learned. The only way it really affects people is ether is you are pregnate, or have some kind of other issues. Like Asthma, cancer, and other respatory issues.
If you start to get the chills, and fever go get tested. but from what I understand, you have to let it run its corse.
My oldest had the flu last week. Never got tested to see if it was H1N1 but he was sicker than a dog. It didnt last more than a few days. Fever, chills, achy, headache, cough, diarhea. When he first fell sick I freaked out! I thought OMG he has the flu! What if its H1N1?? I dont think I have ever been so scared. Im so glad he is better. Half his class was out sick last week. Its going around. Definitly get checked. I had the flu and pneumona when I was pregnant with Hunter. Its nothing to mess with in pregnant woman. Hope you feel better soon! Keep us updated!
thanks ladies.
I just know I feel horrible right now, I am JUST now being able to eat something that's more than crackers, thank goodness.
To be on the safe side, I did call my OB's office and spoke to a nurse today and she told me the main worry w/the flu especially H1N1 is the high fevers that accompany it. She told me to take my temp whenever I feel I'm running one or have the chills but now I can't find my thermometer! lol. I've been taking tylenol whenever my stomach will let me keep it down so that if I do spike a higher temp it hopefully won't go too high.
Also, I did have body aches yesterday and today but they're not intolerable. it could be because I deal w/chronic pain on a normal basis that its just not registering as that serious.
I had H1N1 a 1 month ago! I had vomiting, no appetite, high fever, extreme body aches and just plain miserable! I took tamiflu which really helped speed up the recovery! I had the flu for 7 days but in those 7 days I lost 7 -8 lbs! Overall, I ended up only losing 1 lb when I went to see the doctor 2 weeks later! I am doing just fine and am glad that I got the flu so that I do not have to get the vaccine! I had decided even before getting the flu to not receive the vaccine but at least now I really do not have to! My OB said that since I had it I do not need the vaccine!
Their is alot of statistics out their which are scaring alot of people but all that I would say is just keep an eye on the symptoms and make sure you keep the doctor updated especially if something changes for the worse!
Keep us updated on how you are doing and you are in my thoughts and prayers!
Sounds to me like you have it. My sister and her 4 daughters all had confirmed H1N1 cases and they had the same exact symptoms. One addl thing my sister said was that she hurt so badly with body aches that she could not even type on the computer. All of them are fully recovered. It did last approx 2 weeks. I am 26 weeks preggers and saw her 2 days before she got ill. I was surprised that I did not get it. But very grateful.. LOL My doc gave all of his OB patients tamiflu rx's just in case.
There are many OB women who will get H1N1 and be miserable but will fully recover.
my brother had h1N1 that did turn into pneumonia...they didn't do a thing for him until it progressed to pneumonia...he had a fever of 104.5 the first time he went into the ER (with meds!!) Then as it got worse and into his chest more he went back and they gave him multiple meds...that was 2 weeks ago and he is pretty much back to normal now. Most cases don't end in death, but it's definatly not something to mess around with...I work in a hospital in a critical care unit right now we have a 25 year old with H1N1, pneumonia, AND strep B. He is on ventilator. I was on the fence about getting the vaccine and after I saw this poor kid I thought...I HAVE TO GET IT!!!
