HcG Levels

I have two HcG levels, 213 and 664, and may be just two or three weeks preg.  My doc said these numbers are fine, but requested I come in for a third test to get another set of numbers.  I am concerned..if these numbers are good, why the need for a third test???

My third number was a little over thirty five hundred, so it looks promising.

What can a high hCG level mean?
A high level of hCG can also mean a number of things and should be rechecked within 48-72 hours to evaluate changes in the level. A high hCG level can indicate:

Miscalculation of pregnancy dating
Molar pregnancy
Multiple pregnancy

Found that on a website.  But yours really don't look high to me so I would try not to worry.  Every pregnancy and every woman is different.  The "average" range is not a set in stone kind of thing...some woman have higher hcg and some lower, it just depends on the hormone production for that particular pregnancy, not that anything is necessarily wrong.

Thanks for the info:)  I am about thirty days from my LMP, or four weeks, and I'll get more blood work on Monday, so I guess I will hope they continue to rise.  Do you know if there is any concern if my numbers are higher than the "normal" range??

Thanks again!!

BEcuase your doc wants to make sure they are contuniuing to double as they should.  At this point HCG is really the only way to keep an eye on your pregnancy as it is way to early to do an ultrasound and see anything.   Below are the "normal" ranges for 3, 4 and 5 weeks pregnant :

3 weeks LMP: 5 - 50 mIU/ml
4 weeks LMP: 5 - 426 mIU/ml
5 weeks LMP: 18 - 7,340 mIU/ml

When you say 3 weeks along, are you counting from your last period or from conception?  In either case, your numbers do look really good. Some docs just prefer to monitor to make sure levels are rising as they should if the pregnancy is very early.
