Heartrate questions....

Hey ladies, I just got to sitting around thinking about the baby's heartbeat earlier and everthing.  I know that it was good and strong and all of that so I am very happy about that.. one of my questions is has anyone really had the fast heartbeat equals girl, slow equals boy??? My baby's heartbeat was 174 so it was pretty fast.. I've thought it was a bo all along and have had a dream I was going to have a baby boy, but I'm just curious to know now..
My other question is what factors affect the baby's heartrate or are there any?? Could certain things make it higher or anything..

Cant always determine sex by heartrate..Im expecting a boy and at his highest,it was 172.Yesterday was 158..So yes thats normal, but high compared to the myth of boys rate being slower.I had always had the gut feeling it was a boy even though others kept telling me about the whole fast/girl slow/boy..Not sure what affects heartrate though.Im sure whatever the mother is doing affects it.Or when the ultrasound was being done it went up a lil because I think my lil guy was bothered by the poking around lol.. Hes a very active one,so Im not surprised.Well good luck to you!

Hi,

I have 33 months old boy. When I was pregnant always asking my OB about the heartbeat rate. His heartbeat rate always was 120-135 not more than that. I think is depends on the persons.

Best regards,
Sue

I have four boys and am now pregnant with a girl.  I always thought the rate of girls was higher than that of a boy but for me it is opposite.  My boys were always 150-160 and this one is always about 140-145.  I think everyone is different.

I am not sure about the factors that affect the rate, other than the mothers exercise or anxieties, that is what I have heard anyway.

My baby's heart rate in the first trimester was always 167.7  The second trimester I had a couple of readings that were 155.. then this last rate on January 17th was 161.  My u/s sound revealed that we are having a girl.  Though, my nephews heart rate was just as high as my baby's rate in his mommy's tummy AND they also told her she was having a girl and he popped out with a little tally wacker... lol.. that is what my Grandaddy called it.  =)
