Hello

Hello,I was just writing to check if MAYBE anyone here go thru what I am going thru. Well I am 35 weeks pregnant today,on Friday I had a doctors appointment, while I was there I mentioned to him that my bebe wasn't moving as much for the last 2 days so he sent me to get hooked up to the monitor and have an ultrasound done. Well I was having contractions the nurse said,I told her I felt some contractions but they weren't painful. Well when the doctor came on to check on me,he said I was 4 centimeters dialated!! He said most likely I was going into pre term labor so they admitted me into the hospital and put the IV in and even started me on some medicine. Well I was in LAD all night and in the morning the doctor came in and checked me and told me I had stopped contracting and tha that I was still at 4 cm,so they sent me home. My question is,aren't they suppose to keep you when ur already 4 cm dialated? I mean my water didn't break and I don't have strong contractions but I do have some, which I think feel more like Braxton Hicks. Has anyone ever experience something like this? I am a little worried that I am walking around with 4 cm open, but they act like it's normal.

Thankz for your responses ladies!! I went to the doctor today to get a stress test and an ultrasound and they told me I was having a lot of contractions, and that the baby's head was very low. They told me that if I started cramping really bad or if my water broke to go to the emergency room. The thing that worried me was that they didn't even check if I was more than 4 cm today. I was telling my MIL that it hurts when I walk and my legs feel weird,oh and I have been having this mucous thingy coming out for the past few days. (I know TMI). I just hope if he does decide to come early,he will be healthy,I am 35 weeks 2 days so maybe he will be good to go but I still worry. The doctor told me he was a good 5 to 6 pounds right now so I am praying for a good outcome.

I had a similar expirience as Lance i went into preterm labor at 33 weeks, but my cervix was still closed luckily.  I was put on drugs to stop the labor and put on strict bedrest. At 36 weeks I was 3 cm dialated and at 37 i was 4 cm.  They didn't send me to the hospital to deliver b/c they wanted to wait until i was atleast 5 cm.  I stayed at 4cm for a week before delivering.  That was also after a week of trying everything to get labor started (lots of walking, BDing, etc...)  So hopefully you are on bedrest and take it easy you can keep baby in there long enough to be considered full term!!  Good luck

This can be completley normal. I was having cramping during my pregnancy at 33 weeks and went to the docs. She checked me and I was almost 2 cm and 80% effaced, so I was sent to the hospital for a preterm labor test. Come to find out, I was contracting but wasnt really feeling them. I had to get drugs to stop my contractions as well as other drugs to help the baby's lungs develop just incase they couldnt stop my labor. Thankfully, my labor stopped and I was able to go home. However, if your water has not broke and you arent in pain or bleeding, sounds like things should be okay.
My doctor told me to try to make it to 36 weeks, and that if i went into labor after that they woudl let me have the baby...however, after that incident with preterm labor I was put on strict bedrest, which you should be too! In regards to being worried about being 4cm, some people stay at a certain dilation for weeks, so hang in there and just take it easy. Keep that baby in for another couple weeks so that the little one doesnt have to go to the NICU.
