by next week you could see the pole and the heartbeat.  the black dot is seeimg something.  you may not be 5 weeks and 5 days.  you may only be late 4 weeks early 5 weeks.   many women do not see anything til 6 weeks along.  so try to stay calm til your next ultrasound.

A dot is better than nothing! I wouldn't elect for a D&C or abortive pill just yet. Hold off a few more weeks and get an ultrasound with your DOCTOR. ER ultrasounds are never as good, in my opinion!

Don't stress to much with my first at about 5/6 weeks they also only saw a dot with nothing in it - a week later there was a little peanut with a heartbeat.  It might just be to early to pick up the little one with the ultrasound.

Depending on how far along you are, the dot that they saw may be normal......Also, you lab work will be an even better indicator of a viable pregnancy.  If you Hcg levels rise, that's a good sign.  Good luck.
