Herbal Tea

Hello, my first post here.
Hope you are all well.
Before getting pregnant I was doing slimming world and at that time I was drinking Green tea, Herbal tea. I suffer from constipation too and for this I sometimes took Entrolax, Senna leaves.
I'm 11wks so far. I'm not doing Slimming world like I used to. Wasn't drinking Green tea and Herbal tea like before. Like usual I was suffering from constipation and ordered Herbal tea. On the package it says it is 100% natural Herbal tea and No Caffeine. It's called Dieters drink. Green package.

Anyway my question is; Is taking Herbal tea during prengnancy safe? Or any kind of Green tea?

A really good caffeine free herbal tea is rooibos. Has lots of benefits and tastes great, especially iced.

You should look up the herbs they use. Typically diet tea will have a laxative. If that causes contractions, then you're putting yourself at risk for miscarriage.

I stopped detox tea once I found out I was pregnant because there was a known herb that would hurt the pregnancy.

Try increasing your water intake to a gallon a day, or at least half your weight in ounces, and add more fiber for your constipation. Even yogurt or kefir (drinkable yogurt, some are 99% lactose free if you can't drink milk) will help regulate you as well.

I think you can have green or black tea while pregnant they will only affect folic acid absorbtion if you take your supplement at the same time. If you like your caffeine in the morning then take your vitamins before bed. Just keep the caffeine down to one cup a day. Herbal tea should be cool but I would check there's nothing really weird in there like 'something-or-other root' that could be linked with problems.

Whoa! Didn't know about folic acid being absorbed by caffeine. Thanks so much. I better stay away from it till next week. I have an app with my consultant next week. I'll ask her then.

U might want to ask u r doctor. As far as I know green tea has caffeine which absorbs all the folic acid during pregnancy. U NEED folic acid.
