High blood pressure & Pregnancy
hi all..

I will be 34 at the end of January. I've had high blood pressure for the past few years, but have never been 'diagnosed'.
Generally, when my blood pressure is checked, I am always around 180/90. Sometimes, it's 185/100.

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced high blood pressure and pregnancy? I am assuming I"ll need to be treated later on in the pregnancy as it progresses. I do know its dangerous and they'll monitor me more closely than a normal pregnancy.

If anyone can give me any insight, It would be appreciated. Thanks :)

I am surprised that your doctor would not have you on medication with those high blood pressure numbers.  Your blood pressure can change with pregnancies and the doctors will continue to monitor each time you visit the office.  If they notice that you are also spilling protein in your urine, they may put you on bed rest or take other measures to help prevent toxemia (pre-eclampsia) from developing, which can be dangerous to both the mother and baby.

Has your OB made any comments about those elevated readings?
