The withdrawal method is NOT an effective method of birth control.  Any time there is any type of secretion, you CAN get pregnant.  Not only that, sperm can live in your cervix for up to 3 days, so even if you are not ovulating that day, if you ovulate within 72 hours, you can still get pregnant.  If you wish to continue having intercourse without a condom, then some type of birth control is needed to avoid an unwanted pregnancy.

It's not effective in the slightest. Pre ejaculation contains sperm. It's just like gambling, so on that note, I strongly recommend birth control.

My daughter is proof that the pull out method doesn't work. Don't regret it didn't work but never tried that method again.

The pull out method is absolutely not a form of bc. You can absolutely get pregnant using that method. Laplph99, just because you used that method for 4 years and haven't gotten pregnant doesn't mean its effective. LOL
You could just not have been ovulating close to the time you had intercourse.....
If you don't want to get pregnant, start using condoms and get on birth control.
Be responsible. Its easier to put a condom on and tale birth control rather than taking care of an unexpected baby.

I used it also and didnt believe that pre *** could get me pregnant but it did I am now 14 weeks with #4! It probably all depends on how soon they pull out and if your ovulating

I have to disagree with the previous posts. My husband and I have always used the pull out method as our only form of birth control. The two times he didn't pull out I got pregnant(I'm 19weeks preg now)  either he is just good or it really works.

I am a married mother of 2, been pregnant 6 times and now 9 1/2 wks pregnant. I got pregnant the very 1st time I had sex! Using the pullout method. I know it does not work (at all). My husband and i still use the same method but not as birth control (he prefers it) IF YOU READ ABOVE we have been pregnant 7 times...Get some sort of birth control, if you are going to continue having sex...Good Luck

Actually sperm can survive as long as a week, which is why determining paternity when the mother has been with more than one guy over less than a 2-week time frame is virtually impossible without DNA testing. You absolutely can get pregnant using the withdrawal method; it is NOT effective prevention.

As for whether pulling out can still get you pregnant, well, it's happened at least twice in our family with one-time encounters. Not safe, and zero disease protection either.
