normally, it is very accurate. however, i do know of one case where it wasn't.
my friend has an early u/s and it showed she was pregnancy. she went back 2 weeks later for a follow-up and they couldn't find anything on the transvaginal u/s. at that same appointment, they did an abdominal u/s and were able to see the healthy baby. i guess the position in the uterus made it hard for them to see- plus, she has a large fibroid. maybe that was blocking the view?
the most accurate compared to HPT and blood test as it cam show you what is going on in there... at 4 weeks, u usually dont see much, at 5 weeks you will a sac and then at 6 weeks u will see fetal pole andheart beat. if you just ovulated and not pregnant, the doc can tell that too as they can see the thickening uterine lining and probably a left over follicle where the eggs got released.
it should be more accurate thena regualr u/s as they can see the cervix, whether it is open or closed. as far as seeing the sac or anything i'm not sure becaused every tv u/s i had was to check my cervix..,..didn't see much of the uterus
Not always, I had an tv u/s @ 4 1/2 weeks and they couldn't see the sac yet. But I agree that by 5 or 5 1/2 you should at least see the sac.
By 4-5 weeks they would be seeing a sac at least that means that the week and the week after you miss your period you should be able to see something. Ultrasounds are VERY accurate.
It depends on how early the u/s was done. You can't see anything sometimes until 5 or 6 weeks. That would be about a week two after a missed period.
