I am 33 weeks pregnant and scared

Hello everyone,
I am 33 weeks pregnant with my second and am having a lot of unusual pains. Last week I woke up with severe abdominal pain. From scale of 1-10 it would be a 9. It hurts so bad that it scares me to the point that I almost vomit. Which is double unusual because I never ever vomit. It feels like someone is getting a huge straw and sucking all the air out of my abdomine and then taking it out and putting a huge rubber band around my back and waist... I know sounds strange I know... The first time that I experienced this I took 3 gas ex pills thinking that it was gas, but it didnt help. It seemed more like a muscle spasm than gas. I woke up the next morning feeling like I did 500 crunches... I have had a lot of cramping since I was about 28 weeks pregnant and my doctor just says it is post c-section pain.. Which I am not sure about? I didnt think that cramps were normal during pregnancy period..
Thinking that this was a one time thing I forgot about it, but last night I woke up in the same severe pain.. My husband was gone to work far away and I had to call him. I was scared to death.. I just wanted to know if any of you other mamas have experienced this.. Could this be contractions?? If so why does it only last 2-3 minutes and then go away for a week at a time? Thanks to all!
Lauren

Hey there, Have them check your gall bladder!  In my 1st pregnancy I would have terrible pain that would just double me over.  It was cramping type pains.  I went to hospital numerous times to be told it was just ligaments stretching and sent home with pain pills.  A week after my son was born I was having the same pains and went back to ER to find my gall bladder the size of a softball and about to rupture.  I had to be treated for 3 weeks with meds then it was removed.  Gall bladder pain was worse than any of my 3 labors without the meds.  Anyway, I would have them check it out.  It would seem that it is quite normal that a pregnancy can detroy a gall bladder.

Good luck.

Agree with adawning. Having a bicornuate uterus, as I'm sure you know, presents a few complications including being in pain because your baby is practically laying sideways. Also, placenta previa could cause pain, but ask your doc to make sure becasue I'm only guessing on that issue.

Don't know about the breathing thing because my babies' placenta was in front, blocking most fetal movement!

If you think that she is in stress than I would go on to L & D and have them check you out now! They are there to be certain that your baby is safe and doing ok..... I would definetley go now though! Try not to worry about it to much though... But I think you should go get the stress test done atleast! Good Luck and God Bless you both!

It has been two years since my section. Unfortunately I have a bicornuate uterus and placenta previa :( I am wondering if that causes any pain. I have been drinking plenty of water, but have been super thirsty. I wake up two or three times a night to get a big drink of water.. I dont remember feeling this way with my first. She is soo wiggly while my son was very still. My son was born with a birth defect called gastroschisis which means his intestines formed on the outside instead of the inside. This could be while he was so still. I dont know??? Another question. Have any of you looked down at your belly and noticed your baby almost breathing. My belly goes up and down and up and down really fast right where her hiney is. It is kinda cute, but I wonder if she is in stress. I am a worry wart! Thanks to all for your responses! I go to the doctor on Monday I will be sure to ask her!

How long has it been since your c-section?  I had a c-section with my first and I don't remember any pains from it after the first year.

I agree that it could be BH contractions or even some real contractions.  Have you been drinking plenty of water???  If you haven't been drinking approximately 60 oz a day, increase your water intake.  Dehydration, even mild, can bring on signs of pre-term labor.  It can also be quite painful.  As the other ladies said.  I would check with your doctor or just go to L & D and have them check you out.  It's better to have peace of mind that everything is ok than to worry that something is wrong.

I agree with Joy, They could be braxton Hicks, or maybe real contractions. 9 times out of 10 contractions get fierce when the momma is sleeping and is very relaxed. If you get that concearned, do not hesitate to call your doctor, no matter what time it is, that is what they are their for. It could also be your baby rolling, or trying to move his/her entire body, and I know that can be painful at times. But if you need 100% reassurance Id go see the doctor, and let him/her know whats going on, im sure they can tell you a lot more than what we can.

Good luck!

Oh, when this pain happens, try not to tense up. I know its easier said than done, but staying relaxed can help the pain be less intense.

They could be Braxton Hicks. While they are not painful for the majority of a women, they can be painful for some! Think of Jennifer Aniston on friends when she had a labor scare and she said something along the lines of, "Braxton Hicks aren't painful?! Ha! What do they know?!"
