IS IT TRUE, YOUR WHITE BLOOD CELL COUNT IS RAISED WHEN YOU ARE PREGNANT??

I was at the hospital last night and was told that everything was fine (scan, bloods etc) when i was being discharged i looked at my notes (bad idea) and panicked when i noticed that the WBC was slightly high. The doc said it was expected in pregnancy and nothing serious but i am a little scared now.

From what I have read, its very common for white blood cell levels to be elevated during pregnancy - and by elevated, that means they can even double!

I wouldnt worry about it especially since yours are just "slightly elevated" and the doctor already told you it is nothing serious.  For peace of mind you could call your regular doctor to discuss your concerns.

I hope you are right! Thanks for the post, i am just so worried since finding out that the white cell count was slightly elevated.
So do you think it is something that happens to all pregnant ladies? And it is just a pregnancy thing?

Yes it is.  During pregnancy, white blood cell count and plasma count can double from non-pregnant levels and blood volume will increase up to 35% too.
