I'm measuring biger, question?

I went to my appointment yesterday, and I am 22.4 weeks and they measured my belly and it's measuring at 24 weeks, the midwife said that the baby went through a huge growth spurt in the last 4 weeks (I've been feeling it!).
So if I'm measuring at 24 weeks, does that mean that the baby is just big or that my due date is going to get pushed up?

I forgot to ask her, I started asking her a bunch of unrelated questions like about breastfeeding and delivery (I know its till too early but thats what was on my mind at the time)....

I've had 3 u/s, its only one THANK GOD!  I don't think that my body could handle two at the same time.
Its only two weeks I know...

hey feel lucky it's only 2 weeks. i was pregnant with twins when i was 22 weeks i measured 32 weeks and when i was 34 weeks (when i went into labor) i measured 54 weeks!!!!

have you had an u/s done recently? are they sure you're only having one? i've heard stories where the second baby can hide behind the other. we even had times during my non stress tests when their heart beats were in sync and we couldn't decipher 2 different ones. it freaked the tech out so bad sometimes they'd send me for an emergency u/s to make sure the other baby was ok. and he always was.....he was just a booger.

Grose- I totally understand.  My husband is the biggest of 3 siblings and he was his mom's smallest baby.  His sister who is 5'8" and weighs about 125 (at most she's skinnier than me) was a whopper 9.6 pounds at birth!  My husband was the smallest but he was born two weeks before his due date so that could have been why he was smaller. Still 8.6lbs is not a small baby.
I am affraid of this baby being too big because neither my mom nor my grandma were able to deliver vaginally because they measured too small for the size of their babies.  My hips are tiny too and I am deathly affraid to have a c-section.

Oh I know, I was just saying that it isn't always the case. Noah is abnormal lol, Joe is 6'2 and I am 5'5 Noah is still in the 8th percentile for height and 30th for weight. He just need some time to catch up to his daddy's height I guess.

GRose- it may not have much to do with it but it is in the genes, and my husband is huge at 6'5" and I'm 5'7" so that also has something to do with it.  A lot of the baby's weight has to do with the genes, some with nutrition and overall prenatal health.

Your birth weight really has nothing to do with how big the baby will be. I was 9lb 13oz and DF was 8lb 10oz, Noah was only 7lbs 7oz, he was so skinny that newborn clothes were falling off of him.

My dates are correct because we know exactly when I ovulated, so my dates are based on conception date rather than on lmp.  So they aren't changing my due date just the baby is measuring bigger by a week and a half.

The ultrasound measured right, the fundal height (which I don't think its precise science, measuring my belly with a tape measure) was measuring bigger.  I'm not getting another ultrasound so I'll have to go with the tape measure.  Oh well!

Hey lady,

They told me Jaxson was going to be big too.. He was 6 lb. 14 oz. U/s are only *so* accurate, you know? The later in your pregnancy you get, the less accurate all the measurements are b/c babies all grow so differently. Your lil man likely had a growth spurt, but it will probably all even out in  the weeks to come. At my 36 week u/s, they estimated Jaxson bigger than he was when he was born. I personally take the u/s measurements with a grain a salt so to speak! Hope you are feeling well! =)

I was 17 weeks and a few days at my last ultrasound.  They measured me at 18 weeks a few days, and the OB measured me at 19 weeks the next day.  Considering I was a big baby and my DH and I aren't small, and my nephew was 9 lbs 9 oz at birth, I'm figuring that I'm having a big baby! (and praying that i go early :-))

Same thing happened to me! My son had a huge growth spurt and since then I started measuring a week ahead of what I really was! AND I was still 5 days late and my son was BIG! 9 pounds 4 ounces...and I am really tiny too. They were going to induce me the day I delivered him but my water broke the day before. But chances are your baby is just a little bit bigger and thats why your measuring further ahead. If your concerned about that, let your doctor know, they can do measurements on your U/S. Even though I must say I had an U/S 3 days before I delivered and they told me he was 7 pounds! ha, not!

You might deliver earlier but I think its too early to tell now..
Can you tell me about midwife? I am currently switching from doc to midwife and I want to hear how different are they from docs?

Well the u/s at 18 weeks said he was measuring right on target.  But then 4 weeks later (yesterday) this time she only measured the fundal height.
I know I'm destined to have a big baby, my husband is 6'5"! I just didn't know if the bigger the baby, the earlier he'll get here...I guess I'll find out in 124 days!

With my son, My due date never got moved and most time I was measuring 3 weeks+ ahead when she measured me. But she knew I would most likely not go all the way to my due date. And sure enough, he was 2 weeks early and big! (8lbs 4oz) If you continue to measure bigger the entire pregnancy, you very well could go earlier than your due date, but sometimes they don't move your due date like Darkestlight said, unless they confirm it by u/s. I was due at the end of April with him, and my midwife just told me to be prepared to have him anytime in April. He came on the 11th.

The only way a doctor will move your due date up is if the baby, by u/s, is measuring 3wks different than your original due date.
I am 26wks and I've been measuring 3wks ahead all along.
On all my u/s the babys length is literally perfect for my due date. However they estimate her weight at 2wks ahead.
I have Gestational diabetes, thus why my kids could be weighing more. My first DD was 7lb 3oz at 37wks.

I think they'll move your due date up if he gets too big, some babies are just bigger. My doctor told me that my baby is big for his age too and they might have to move my due date up.
