Implantation Bleeding? Please help

I just wanted to see if anyone knew if this sounded like implantation bleeding or not..I have read alot about it, but I wanted some outside opinions.

First of all (I have said this before, but) my girlfriend had to go off Birth control for a month and then re-started them before she had a period (I know she shouldnt have but it was her choice). Anyhow, this would be like her third set of pills since then, and she was a week into the pills and she says her period stated again. She said that it was no different than normal, except it being really early (blood was the same red color as normal, it started out kind of light but still with a "flow", and then it got heavier towards the end and then got light again, she said that it was more than just spotting at the beginning and she definetly needed a tampon. Also, she had cramps like normal. It lasted from Sunday afternoon until about mid-day on Wednesday.)

Now, she said that this had happened before when something messed up with her pill cycle and she had 2 periods in one month and it was just her body trying to regulate again.

Not sure why I worry so much. We always use a condom and withdrawal along with her birth control. But the thought is always in the back of my mind i guess.

Thank you for any thoughts!

thank you very much...that sounds exactly like what she has been experiencing.....but I do care alot about her. I just like to know all of my facts so that we can know what we are going through. We are in this together and I don't think that it should be just her that worries about things like this.

But thank you again!!

I've acutally had this happen to me.. 2 periods in one month.  & I didnt mess up my pills or anything. i work in a MD office. & one of the docs told me that if your body doesnt fully shed the  edometrial lining fully. it may be a week or 2 later and your body knows it needs to get rid of it to prevent infections ect. and so you will have another period. mine I even had clots w/ it was weird but I was NOT PREGGO. it just happens. Your body knows best!!

PS  I'm very proud you guys are using so many preventive methods.

also i'm impressed/ amused all in the same breath that you are so concerned w/ her and ya'll reproductive systems you come to a pregnancy forum online. I bet half the girls in t he world would love to have a bf like you(one who cares)

She actually told me that she had "clotting" during at least one or two of the days she was bleeding.

So thank you! that puts me at ease

I don't think implantation bleeding will last very long, and I don't think it occurs more than once or intermittently.  However, I have read that it is normal for about 25% of pregnant women to have spotting during pregnancy.  Like others have said, it is normal to have spotting after getting off of the pill also.

FYI - I was on the pill when I got pregnant the first time.  (My daughter is now 10 yrs old!)  I took antibiotics, which I now know can decrease the effectiveness of birth control, and got pregnant.

I think you're pretty safe dude.
My sister told me her  periods would come 2x in one month if she went off then went back on in a month or so.

I never experienced implantation bleeding, but I know alot about it.

It's a very light color, and it's usually only there when you wipe yourself... that's how little comes out.
Sometimes it'll be a pinkish color... sometimes a brownish tan... sometimes peach?
She'd know if it was implantation bleeding because it's NOTHING like a period.

Next time just ask her if she's "Clotting"
Cuz if she's got clots in her period blood, that's your home-free Q because she CANNOT clot while pregnant unless you're misscarrying or about to.

Hope that puts you at ease.

Well that makes sense.

But can I ask you one more thing? You may not know the answer to this but just thought I would ask,,,,

Everything I have read says that what you described is the time when implantation bleeding should take place (which is why it is mistaken for a period so often). But my question is, if it took place then, could it just happen again randomly? or is it just a one time thing? or maybe does it occur at the same time for a few months?

Thank you!

My implantation bleeding was about three days before I should have started my period.  I thought it was kind of a light cycle at first, then later realized that it was implantation bleeding.

Thank you that makes me feel better

But can I ask you a question....when did the implantation bleeding happen for you?

Because everything that I have read says that what my girlfriend has is waaay to early to be implantation. But i thought I would ask.

Thank you!!

No i meant that it was her third month. She had been on them for three months in other words.

And, we were very cautious when she went off the pills. I knew all about the whole thing abou the pills taking a week to be effective...and we didn't have sex during the time that she wasn't protected.

But thank you for the info!!

Sounds like it's due to her going on and off the pill....If you are using a condom, plus withdrawing, plus she's on the pill.....I would think that chances of pregnancy are extememly low.

I had implantation bleeding with my first child, and it only lasted about a day and a half.  It was much lighter than my period and did not seem to "flow".  I hope this helps!

I've never experienced implantation bleeding but if that had happened to me I would think it was because of the pill situation.
Is she worried?? Because she should test if she is. If she's not worried then I wouldn't because she knows her body.
Not sure how old you are....I would say if you knew the situation with the pills then you should have refrained so that there was absolutely no chance :(
Also a bit confused about what you mean by 'this would be her third set of pills since then'. Did she get a period in the middle of the pills after already taking them regularly for three months or was this the first month of her taking them?

If it was the first month, they take about 7 days to get into the system properly and then the body would think it was pregant anyway and prevent egg release so there would be no chance. If it was before the 7 days then there is a possibility.

If she has been taking them for three months then you have nothing to worry about. I hav had bleeding in the middle of a cycle a couple of times and never left it concern me. I was on the pill for ten years and never once had a pregnancy scare.
