Is it a pregnancy sign?

I have been taking folate and elivit everyday for 2 months now and my stools have been black, from the iron. We are undergoing ivf treatment and I had an embryo transfer 6 days ago and today my stool is a normal brown colour. Could this be a sign of pregnancy, the iron is being used up by a possible baby starting???

I have asked about the iron at work and they told me it's ok. It is nice having doctor & nurse friends sometimes..Thank you people for your thoughts :)

Iron supplements can cause black stools but so can other things.  Its important to determine the cause of the black stools which is something that only a doctor can do.

I have spoken to nurse friends (work in a hospital) and they say that when you take iron supplements your stools will be black in colour if you have too much iron for what your body needs. Which has me curious as to why all of a sudden it changed colour... Will see them tonight for n/shift to ask.

Black stools are usually caused by blood in your digestive tract so you really need to get it checked out by a md.

I agree with Joy.  Black stool is something that needs to be brought to the attention of your doctor.  Its possible you are pregnant but your wouldnt have any symptoms this early on.

Anytime you have black stools you need to contact your doctor. And no, I don't think poo changes have anything to do with pregnancy.
