Is this true??

So every morning when i get into work, my first stop is the kitchen. I make my hot tea ((decaf of course)) and either a bowl of oatmeal, cereal or fruit and yogurt. Well today since alot of people are off, some of the ladies i work with brought in some donuts. I said ok why not and took a donut. Im eating it as im walking back towards the kitchen to get my tea and a bunch of the ladies i work with are in there as well making their breakfast...they see me eating the donut and immediately get on my case about it! I felt bombarded! One lady told me to "throw it away!", "dont eat that sugar!", and "take that donut back where you got it!" Now im appreciative of the help to not eat alot of sugar but DAYUM forreal!?! Then one of the ladies told me..."your sh!t is gonna split when you deliver." I looked at her and said "how do you know!?" and she said because you keep giving that baby sugar. Then another lady said "yeah honey, youre gonna tear if you continue to eat sugar." I jokingly said "well i hope not, im hoping for an 8 pounder." and then she said..."by the looks of it, that baby is gonna be atleast 10lbs." Then they laughed. WTF!?! I feel so guilty for eating that donut now! I didnt think you could tell how much a baby will be at birth just by looking at how big someones tummy is and i didnt know eating sugar will make you tear while giving birth. My sister gained 100lbs when she got pregnant, had an 8lb 8oz baby and didnt even tear.
Anyone have some insight here??  Cause now im even more scared of going into labor than i was before!

GOSH id blow a fuse. Heck no do they have the right to SAY THAT!!!!! HECK NO....

lol. I LOVE how you said "decaf" of course. I stayed away from coffee before concieving and til i was about 15 wks. Now i drink a mug of coffee a Day. YES with caffine. I dont however drink soda/ eat chips/ fast food is all a no no. Heck no one BETTER tell me not to "drink coffee".... i think id throw it at them. I dont smoke/ i dont drink alcohol, No one does around me. Why is something thats considered "normal" to drink/eat SO taboo?!!!! Ahhh ppl just think they can tell you WHATEVER they once read/ heard to your face.

well I dont really know you and you've already heard this, but that was just ridiculous! Maybe its just me, but I take comments like that very hard (mostly because of my self esteem) but man! my irish temper would have flared like a camp fire! My man know never to say anything like that and he never would. Whatever i eat or do, he doesnt say anything bad, he usually laughs, because he thinks im funny being preggers lol

To be honest, I have been eating very well, but i crave sweets like no other! My mom and sister are really adamant/anal about what i eat, but mostly just in quantity.

Basically my moto is: eat whatever you want as long as its in moderation. If you want cake and ice cream, by damn have some cake and ice cream; just not the whole cake and pint lol

i hope you get things settled at work :)

Hi Heather! LOL yeah i am sure little Franky wouldve reached 10lbs had you not gone into labor at 38 weeks! I love sweets but i dont drown myself in them...if i want a candy bar i eat it LOL then i feel guilty and tell my husband who then makes me walk it off. The other day tho...i ate 11 cookies...yes girl 11 LOL! They were the little ball ones, so i say technically 2=1  full cookie lol!

If you feel like eating a donut eat a donut... don't let anyone tell you what to eat.  I ate whatever I wanted during my pregnancy.  If I wanted a donut I would eat one (not 5 likes my sisters) but one.  If I wanted icecream I would eat a serving... and I did on most days.  Despite this (because I exercised while I could) I gained 37lbs and my son was 8lbs 3 ozs and 2 weeks early (I bet I would have been at about 45lbs at the rate I was gaining towards the end if I went full term).  If you are going to have a big baby you will it's genetics.  My son would have been 10lbs if he went full term... my hubby was a 10lb baby.  Has nothing to do with the sugar in your diet... my sugar levels were perfect during pregnancy.  I do have to add that Franky was too big to come out...dialated fully and pushed for 3 hours .... I didn't tear because he couldn't make it that far... had to have a csection.  But, everyone is different.  My hubbys mom delivered him natural with no drugs a 10 lb baby... crazy crazy woman...lol

That's a new "old wives tale" for me.  I've never heard that before.  You've got nothing to worry about or be afraid of.  Even if you tear, you won't feel it and they will stitch you right back up.  Happened to me twice.  I didn't feel a thing not even when they put the stitches in and I'm as good as new. I did not have an epidural either time.  Your body just naturally goes numb down there.  And if you have an epidural you sure as h3ll won't feel anything.  Either way you'll be so busy trying to get the baby out, you won't care.  I would totally ignore anything these people at work say.

Hahaha i wish my Doctor would tell me to eat chocolate cake and candy bars! The Dr i have now doesnt ever get on my case about my weight or weight gain, which i LOVE lol!

Hahaha "Better beefaroni than crack!" i will definitely remember that next time one of the nagging ladies i work with stick their nose in my food! LOL!

My goodness you shouldn't have to hide to eat. What is with these people. It's not like you are eating crack for lunch!!!  Next time you should tell them "better beefaroni than crack" or something like that. Put it in perspective. Not all women crave salad and fruit!  And even then we still sometimes crave sugar or sodium or whatnot. I think usually there is a reason for it. I craved donuts turns out I had low blood sugar so good thing I ate the donuts!!  You are so sweet i would have said something rude to them. At 4 months i think baby can hear you but luckily they don't know the language you could say go f yourself and baby wouldn't know the difference between that and I love you. It's just the tone of voice that would be a difference to them.

Thank you ladies (: reading your comments make me feel better about my sugar rushes lol! When im here at work i get judged for the things i eat! Yesterday i ate some beefaroni and one of the ladies ((a different lady)) asked me if i knew how much sodium was in a can of beefaroni! I looked at her and said "i could care less...my baby is craving some beefaroni so beefaroni is what im eating for lunch". Its a constant nag and now whenever someone interupts my lunch and asks if i know how much blah blah is in that i just say...i dont bother you or ask you what you put in your mouth at lunchtime so itd be nice if you could do the same!...i try not to be too hostile when someone gets on my nerves because i heard baby can hear everything i say LOL!

Whoa mean people at your work!!  One of the only things that stayed down in the first trimester for me was donuts (and French fries). Your co workers can go pound sand. My OB said it was fine and even caffeine in moderation was fine. I'm sorry they were so mean that's just terrible!!

I quite literally ate donuts every day of my pregnancy (and milkyways) and my daughter was 6 lbs 15 ozs. My bump was smaller than it should have been by weeks and she was average. Also a friend of mine had a ginormous bump and ended up only having a 7 lb baby. What they are saying is stupid and I wouldn't worry about it. Also most people tear down there. It is what it is.

that's ridiculous! I tore like crazy when my daughter was born, but I barely ate ANY sugar...I'm really not a sweets person!! Don't worry about it for even a second and tell those ladies to stick to facts, not myth.

Thank you ladies! I have had a sweet tooth since i hit 3rd trimester, but surprisingly i havent gained that much weight this last trimester. Most of my weight gain was the end of 1st, beginning of 2nd. My husband is pretty good about keeping me away from sugar, but every now and then i indulge! I LOVE chocolate...anything chocolate lol! I think about dessert in the morning instead of breakfast foods lol. I could probably eat a whole carton of ice cream if the guilt wouldnt kill me lol. Everytime i eat junk food my husband takes me to the gym and makes me walk 2 laps for every piece of candy i eat...so i try not to go too overboard with the junk food cause this belly is getting heavy to carry now lmao! && yeah the ladies who are always on my case are mothers themselves, but mothers to older kids...like nearly teens or already out of high school.

Oh wow them ladies sound crazy!!! I lived on donuts when I was pregnant. I ALWAYS had a bag of Chocolate donut holes and glazed donut wholes in my cuboard. not to mention went through a bag of oreos at least every 3 days.. and lived on twix candy bars!  i lived on all sugar!!!!  especially donuts lol... i didnt tear, i got cut, but i prolly would have torn.. cause Coles head was so freaking huge(been in the 90th percentile all his life)  lol.. Sugar has absolutely nothing to do with wether or not you will tear.. its all about your body, the way you are built, how big baby is..  some ladies are crazy about not eating sugar when there pregnant.. but if I were you Id run right back in there and get that donut! lol...Dont feel bad at all!!!

I ate alot of sugar when i was pregnant (bows head in shame, but in my defense my blood suger was very low so it was keeping me from passing out) Lily was 6Ib 11oz. I dont think what they were saying is true. My bump wasnt very big, but my friend who had her little boy a few weeks ago, her bump was massive and he was 6Ib 8oz. Hope i gave you some piece of mind, 1 or even a few donuts wont hurt your baby at all.

Oh my......you so should NOT feel guilty!!

I've never heard of the amount of sugar consumption during pregnancy being linked to an increased risk for tearing.  I guess what they mean is that eating more sugar is going make your baby bigger thus increasing the risk for tearing, but seriously.....ONE donut isn't going to make a huge difference!!

For what it's worth....I craved sweets with my second son and, being due in January, I indulged during the Christmas season....to the point that I was sure I was going to have a bigger baby than I'd had the first time (my first son was 7lbs. 6ozs. - and that was at 41 weeks gestation).  Lo and behold, I went to 41 weeks again the second time, and had a SMALLER baby:  6lbs. 11ozs.!!    I tore (minor) the first time, but didn't the second time.

Just wondering....are all of these ladies mothers themselves, or do they have kids yet?  I find it hard to believe that women who have already been through pregnancy and labour and delivery would say such things....but I did get a few choice comments thrown at me myself by other moms, so I know it happens.
