It is getting close!!!

I am 35 weeks and couple days, my doc plans on inducing at 38 weeks if everything goes ok. i have had no issues with my pregnancy, but the usual cramps in my legs in the middle of the night and waking up for no apparant reason. My question is have many of you been induced at the same time and had everything go ok? If so were you dialated, with my first pregnancy i was not dialated and they induced a week early and it was so painfull. I heard it is not as painfull if you have dialated....

Can someone help...

is this your first pregnancy because if it is you won't even no the difference, i have three children and was induced with all of them. the first at 41 weeks, my second at 38 weeks and my third on her due date. you still get the option of all the pain meds, and it goes a lot faster then going on your own. i was in labor for my daughter this last time for 2 1/2 hours, from the start of the pitocin till her delivery. all my children were fine, i hope this helps

I was induced with my 1st son at 38weeks.  I only gained about 6lbs throughout the whole pregnancy and then at 37weeks I picked up 3lbs in a matter of 3days.  They figured I was going to gain like that until 40weeks and the baby would get too big.   They didnt want anything to jeopardize me being able to have a vaginal delivery.  It's painful whether you've dilated or not!  Sorry to be the barrier of bad news! :)  Inducing tends to be more painful simply b/c you're given a synthetic hormone to make you contract and your body is not naturally resting in between contractions.  I was induced with my 2nd son at 30weeks b/c I was at 4cm and they were scared I would set up an infection.  Sorry to say it hurt just as much as the 1st time, but the labor went by MUCH FASTER.  14 hrs with the 1st one and only 7hrs with the second one.  Just remember the more relaxed you are and the more you breathe and pace your self everything will go great.  You can even walk around with your IV pole to kick your labor into serious gear if they allow you to.  You are allowed to call as many of the shots as you want to, as long as it's not an emergency situation.  Good Luck
