It's worse

If you remember my post about a sore throat... Well this morning I woke up with DF as he was getting ready for work about 5:15... I go back to sleep after 6:00 and wake up at 9:30. My throat hurts 10x worse than it did before I went to sleep. I can barely talk, it's burning and irritated-red, it hurts a lot. Woke up and went straight to a peppermint. I don't know if I need to go to the doctor now or wait until my appointment. It's just feb 2nd.... Ugh... I don't know...I haven't had a sore throat in a long time. Now I'm pregnant and bam. Here it comes.... :(

I had the same thing. It started out like a sore throat, but then mine went away for a day or two and then came back and it was worse with ear pain, to the point that I could barely talk. I went to my doc and he gave me some homeopathic meds and within 3 days, I was back to normal. I only went because I was afraid it was an infection, but he said it was just really irritated and swollen. He also told me to use a Neti-pot which can help clear the nose and some sinus issues. Gargling with warm water and salt is a good idea as well.

You can try some home remedies in the meantime.  If you can stomach them, gargle with warm salt water or this one is really gross but works(did this one for years, my mom believes in home remedies over drs!), gargle with 1 tsp. peroxide and 1 cup warm water.  Dont swallow!  You can do these 2x daily, in the AM and right befoe bed.  Along with those take tylenol.  You can also try honey and lemon, about a tablespoon at a time and use fresh honey if available you can do that 4x daily. I know most drs wont give you any meds if you dont have fever along with the sore throat.Hope you feel better soon.

I would just go to the dr., it could be a simple cold/allergy type thing, or it could be strep throat which would require abx...Good luck

Unfortunately pregnancy makes us more susceptible for illness, including colds and sinus issues. I would see a doctor for it because it may be strep or bronchitis and may be contagious. They'll want to help you treat it. Just because you're pregnant doesn't mean you have to be miserable! ;-)
