Just an update...back from OB and a question

Everything looks great! Baby is measuring exactly where it should and heart rate was 154. Next appointment is scheduled for November 12th and they scheduled a level 2 ultrasound for November 10th. I have to go in for a Quad screen on Monday. I really wanted to know if it was a boy or girl before then, but I'm just glad that baby is healthy and everything is right on track. :)

Could someone please tell me what the difference between a regular ultrasound and a level 2 is? When I had my son three years ago, level 2 was never mentioned.

I will have to have a level 2 as well and i am not doing the quad test. but due to the fact that i am diabetic i will have to be checked for the development of the babies organs..that is why i am not having the quad test. i figure if something is wrong i will find out then. im hoping all goes well for both of us. keep us posted. i go back on the 28th of this month so i may be able to shed more light then.  they said we will do it around 18 weeks and i will be 18weeks and 2days.. they said they were going to schedule one but i havent heard when. and i can never get thru to the office.. uhh. so we will see..

Thanks for your reply! I am 34 now, but will be 35 by the time the baby is born, so I guess that is why. :)

They're using a Level II to check for genetic anomalies. For instance, babies with Down Syndrome will have a thick neck so they measure the baby's neck and check out all sorts of things with baby to give you a percentage that your baby *MIGHT* have a certain disorder.

I opted out of all of those tests. I felt they weren't necessary and the majority of women go through a lot of fear with these only to end up with a healthy baby without genetic issues. If you're over 35 then it is standard for your age.
