My midwife recommended a high quality liquid calcium/magnesium supplement. The only thing you need do is make sure you take it at a different time than your prenatal as you can't absorb iron and calcium at the same time.
Thanks for the info! I hadn't realized you responded & was wondering if I was the only one with this problem. If I'm careful with my dairy intake I do ok. But if I have something with cheese on it one day, then ice cream the next, then a salad with ranch, I'm bloaty, gassey, h sitting on pot a lot
Again thanks for your help.
I was really lactose intolerant when I was a kid but now only effects me if i eat alot of dairy.. but at times in my pregnancy it has been flared up again by the pregnancy..
There are a couple options...
Soy Milk or like ALmond Soy Beverages.... I have never particularly enjoyed them but i have drank them from time to time in the pregnancy for the baby....
I have a calcium supplement that is a little chocolate chew... I sometimes will take 1 of those in a day if I need it... That plus the calcium in your prenatal generally ends up being about 60-70% of your DR. Generally better than tums ... though later in pregnancy, you may get heartburn/acid reflux and the tums work wonders for that.. as well the tums smoothies ones are much better than the regular tums
Ensure or boost type drinks are lactose free and give you about 25% of your daily requirement.. You shouldnt drink more than 1 a day though becasue they are supplemented with vitamin A....
they do make lactose free yogurt, soy cheese etc... as well... im sure these things get pricey though
