I wanted to comment on your morning sickness, I was feeling pretty crappy from morning sickness myself and I called my dr. they were able to call me in a prescription for promethazine (I think that might be the generic) which really helped, but the only thing was that it made me really drowsy, I took it at night and the next day my morning sickness was a whole lot better than the day before.  You should call your dr. and see if they can prescribe you something, it is worth a shot!

I know what grief you are feeling when I was pregnant with my son. I was working in a factory that too has thousands of employees. But because I had some stomach problems and hadn't worked there for the required amount of time. I was laidoff. That was to cover their *****. Only they didn't realize that the people they were laying off were almost all pregnant including me. Well a lawsuit went about and pregnant women won. If that happens go to a lawyer and see what you can do. You shouldn't have to go throught the same things I had to go through 3 years ago.

I believe you have to have worked for the company for 1 year but I'm not sure.  At my company, you have to have worked for the company for 1 year to qualify for short term disability but I'm not sure if this also applies for the FMLA or not.

You may want to talk to your doctor about maybe getting something for the morning sickness.  I know how it feels.  I have gotten it really bad with all 5 of my kids.  I worked all the way through my pregnancies but it wasn't easy.  With this last one, he prescribed a low dose of phenigren.  I've also heard of something called prego pops which are lolipops/suckers made specially for pregnant women.  I don't know how they work because I found out about them after I was over the morning sickness but I do know you can find them at baby stores.  We have Baby's R Us here.  Not sure if they have those where you are but if not, they may have something comparable to it.

this happen to my sister in law- she was having some pregnancy problems and miss alot of work....her work wrote her up but the company's lawyer pretty much told them that it was illegal and that she could sue them if she wants to so the next day they apologize and take that written off her record.

I found this website that list how many employess there needs to be with so many miles.

http://www.dol.gov/dol/allcfr/ESA/Title_29/Part_825/29CFR825.110.htm

I hope this helps too, I wanted to use fmla to my advantage when both of my daughters were born but I work for a very small company.  Good Luck to you.

How many employees does your company have???  This is the stupidest thing I have ever heard.  I can't believe people can be so insensitive!!!  I agree with cindy82.  Look at the link she gave you and let us know.  I do believe there maybe some tweeks to the FMLA if the company has less than 15 employees.  That's why I was asking.  But that website ought to tell you.

they have a point system for pregnancy??!! hell no they can not do that.
Covered employers must grant an eligible employee up to a total of 12 workweeks of unpaid leave during any 12-month period for one or more of the following reasons:

for the birth and care of the newborn child of the employee;
for placement with the employee of a son or daughter for adoption or foster care;
to care for an immediate family member (spouse, child, or parent) with a serious health condition; or
to take medical leave when the employee is unable to work because of a serious health condition.

The FMLA and the ADA both require a covered employer
            to grant medical leave to an employee in certain
            circumstances.4  The FMLA and Title VII both have
            requirements governing leave for pregnancy and
            pregnancy-related conditions.
if they fire you, go talk to  a lawyer asap

It is called the Family Leave Act.  Search it on Google or whatever search engine you prefer.  It should protect you.  And morning sickness should be covered.  It will just take away some of the time that you could be out with the baby.  I know you get 12 weeks off after you have the baby.  I believe you can use up to 2 weeks for morning sickness but then of course you would only be allowed off 10 weeks after the baby.
