Levonox

I am on levonox shots for blood clots on my lungs. When will the doctor take me off the shots. My high risk doctor told me today that they should take me off the shots and put me on heparin if I plan to have an epidural which I do.

I have since talked to my friend who i mention in my last post and she was on heparin twice a day but wanted to be on lovenox as its just once a day... but its more money... and she had to skip her last injection so there was 12 hours before her induction... it is stupid that your covered for lovenox but not heparin... especially if its cheaper?!

But anyway im sure it will all get worked out... congrats and good luck!!!

I went to the doctor yesterday and the doctor gave me a prescription for heparin and I was suppose to start today. Well my insurance will not pay for it and it cost $4000 (this is not a typo) I called the doc this morning and the nurse said I really need this med and the ins suppose to pay for it and she would get it taken care of. I just called again and they suppose to be working on it and this time they told me to stay on the levonox until further informed. I am so confused cause they acted like I really needed to get off the levonox and now they telling me to take it. I don't know what to do?

It depends on hospital policy what the guidelines are for sure... my GF was on heparin shots and she had to be off them for so long in order to get an epideral (i honestly cant remember anywhere from 24-48 hours?) anyway she was off of it long enough for hospital standards but the anesthetist refused to giver her one as he said she needed to be i think 72 hours? but it was the weekend and she figures he didnt want to come in as he was on call... so i would talk to your Dr for sure about what the guidelines are and waht your options are... my friend has some blood thing that affects her when she is prego(so every preg she needs to do daily shots) and she lost her first baby at 6-7 months due to a blood clot in the placenta, and thats how she found out she has this condition :(
