Thanks ladies so much for sharing your experience, makes me less worried. I was just assuming that I would get this with the 3rd because I got it with both, talk about being paranoid and pregnant lol
I had the line with my first from the top of my stomach to the bottom. With my second pregnancy i didn't ever get a line. Both were girls.
With my son I had a line that ran from my pubic bone all the way up my belly. Now I'm 32 weeks with a girl and no line yet. With my son I started to notice my line at about 4 months.
Thank you so much for the post. I don't think it probably indicates gender either. I am very fair skinned so it might just take longer to show up this time.
I read about the line on web and it says that women with darker skin tone will most likely develope the line and it will be visible. Women with light skin not as much. i also read that the line shows because of the progesterone levels being higher. It can also mean defficiency in folic acid. I really don't think it has anything to do with the gender of the baby, but who knows. Maybe hormone levels are different depending what you're carrying and that could affect the line. Have fun guessing and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy!
when I had my daughter I had the line all the way but I'm carrying a boy and ain't even got a line
I know this post is old but just wanted to say thanks for the input on this, I have no idea what I am having but with my last 2 pregnancies I had linea negra from my pubic area to my belly button and both were boys. Now with this pregnancy I am almost 31 weeks and have not developed the line yet, so was curious why not this time yet.
Im 19 weeks 3 days and have no line but have a little trail of hair running right the way up to my chest - Im having a girl!!
Think its all genetics and hormones :)
Old wives tale. I had a girl and it was very faint and went from the top of my stomach all the way down. Like JoyRenee said its just about your genetics and hormones supposedly everyone gets the line but the darker your complexion the more noticeable it is.
I had two girls and the line went up from my pubic area to right under my chest. Just an old wives tale, sweetie. It has more to do with your genetics than with your baby's gender.
I'm having a boy and the line from my pubic area to my belly button is pretty noticeable and then I have a VERY faint line running from the top of my belly button up. So I guess it's true for me...but I hear it's not THAT accurate.
I am having a boy and my line is only to my belly.
