I was alittle curious too as to why my blood pressure readings have been lower than my norm. I read that in the third trimester, your baby starts pressing on a vein. This causes your feet to swell and causes lower blood pressure readings. If you doctor is fine with your readings, I wouldn't worry.
OH and in the third trimester the blood pressure does drop also.
My blood pressure is always low during pregnancy usually 85/55 I was told that is just how my body is.
It's most likely just your body's unique reaction to pregnancy but it's definitely worth talking to your doctor about....I have REALLY low blood pressure too, but I take a beta-blocker for a heart condition. Usually my BP is so low that it takes 4 or 5 times before they can even get a reading, lol...at one point it was like 67/90. Sometimes if you're dehydrated your blood pressure drops, because it's related to blood volume...so try drinking a LOT of fluids and take the measurement again. dehydration can also cause heart palpitations and dizziness. I also want to say that my pulse averages at about 100-110....before I started taking the beta-blocker it was about 130+ though (resting) because of my valve condition (which was exacerbated by pregnancy...my heart condition (barely noticeable before) definitely got worse after I was pregnant with my daughter...so you may have an undiagnosed valve condition which is easy to treat but does require attention). You may want to have them check your heart by ECG and make sure that the extra strain from pregnancy isn't affecting it...but try the fluids first.
the low bp can mean a bleed so I would get an us to check the placenta!
The low BP's started in between my Appt's. I go in next Monday.. I've been charting my BP's and Pulse for him to see. The really low BP's happen every time I have SOB, Dizziness and Heart Palipations.. Which could be 10-20 times a day.....What worries me is the frequency of all the things combined...
Your current BP is 92/55 which is very close to mine 100/60 yesterday and the doctor was very happy with that. My pulse is probably 90-100. Th 79/54 is pretty low though, does that happen often? if your BP is usually arount 92/55 I wouldnt worry too much. Does the doc check your BP every appointment? Do they seem concerned?
