Low Hcg levels/bleeding

Hi I'm 26 years old and I'm 6weeks pregnant my hcg levels are 118 I started yesterday morning with just light pink spotting and through out the day it got darker and I started cramping a little I called my doctor and was told that it's normal to wait if it gets worst then to go to the er. In the mean time she had sent me for blood work and urine. She didn't call me to give me any results so later on I started cramping a little more followed by back pain and a little more bleeding so I headed to the er. They had me on an iv did more blood work and  a pregnancy test it came out
positive and thats when she explained that my hcg level is 118 and it should be around the thousands they proceeded by doing an ultrasound she said she couldnt see anything but saw shadowing. She called the doctor in and he said that most likely I can be having a miscarriage because of my levels being low but they weren't giving me a straight answer and didn't want to tell me it was a miscarriage just said they wil do a quantitive in two days to see if it has doubled and to follow up with my ob.  PLEASE HELP I'M SO CONFUSED AND STILL DONT HAVE A STRAIGHT ANSWER.I just took another test and its still shows pregnant.

Anything over 20 is going to show up pregnant on a home test.  You can't see anything on an ultrasound until your levels are at least 1000 - but closer to 1500.  Unfortunately all you can do is wait, hope and pray that your numbers double.  That is the ONLY way to know if your pregnancy is progressing.

Bleeding is common at the beginning of pregnancy.  You don't want clots, though.

I would rest and take it easy until you're able to go for your results in two days.

It is very possibly that you aren't 6 weeks (late implantation or confusion of dates) and your numbers will be normal for closer to 5 weeks.

That number is extremely low. It should be anywhere between 1080-56,000. A pregnancy test will show positive as long as you have hormones in your body and will not tell whether or not the pregnancy is viable. Mine showed positive for 2 months after I miscarried and was cleaned out via d&c. Is it possible that you might not be as far along as you think? I really hope everything goes well for you :)
