Low levels of HCG?

Well I went for a physical last week Tuesday and my Dr. did all test, including a blood pregnancy test, and he called me today and said that he had the results as pregnant but with really low levels of HCG therefore I need to come in and re test this coming Monday to see the levels, he said could be either that I will have a natural misscarriage or in fact am pregnant!? Could anyone explain this to me? i have a 18 months old baby, am married i am not sure if this is normal? thanks :)

Thanks so much for all your comments :)....My husband and I weren't looking for baby #2 but he is very excited!! We will see hopefully everything goes thje way it should! :)
~I had a question, But if the Dr. is calling me am for sure pregnant right? we only don't know if is going to stay?

I had same kind of problem. The doctor said low level HCG and no adequate doubling of HCG. He started giving some hormonal injections. I am fine now and 4 months pregnant. So dont worry every thing will be fine. Good Luck!!!

It could be just super early and that is why they are low.  If they are doubling every 48 hours, then everything is probably okay but if they are not doubling, it could be a sign of an impending m/c.  Just because you are not cramping or bleeding you could still be at risk of having a missed miscarriage.  Hopefully you are just early pregnant and everything will be okay!  Good luck!

Hey there, the low levels of HCG, just like the doctor says, could be that you are only just pregnant and that is why they are low, or you were pregnant already and if the HCG levels are very low it can be a sign of impending miscarriage. If you have no pain or bleeding, you might still just be fine :) They want to check the levels come monday to see if they have gone up like they are supposed to in pregnancy, if they haven't they will assume miscarriage will take place, and may well give you an ultrasound to check and see what is going on inside you.
