Luteal phase length ... please help

Hi everybody, i got my af today a day earlier. It is only 12 DPO. Infact ealier I used to O by no later than cd15. But from last 2 months i tuk clomid 50mg days 5-9. Since then I am ovulatin 9-10 days after the last pill which is kind of making my luteal phase shorter (i think it is short)
questions:
1> is 12 days a gud luteal phase or should it be longer?
2> should i take clomid from days 3-7 in the coming cycle that way even if i ovulate 10 days from last pill i wld by cd17 and so the luteal length will b at least 13 to 14 days.
Please help me ladies. I have been trying from 8 months already and v r a bit worried now.

no i hvnt tried anything else, i bought some fertility book about chinese method, but they hv mentioned to take those herbs after consulting with a chinese doctor. so i thot not to take any herbs on my own without talkin to the doctor.
also one more thing which was in that book was to eat pineapple as it helps implantation. I ate pineapple and it cause my periods to come early. Later i found pineapple increases the chances of m/c. After tht i am not looking into that book :)

I would say looking at your chart you ovulated cd18.then your temp rose and stayed up,higher than previous 6,this is how charting analized.your cycle is very consistent.I reckon higher dosage would be good.
There is another site you may like ovusoft.com lots of clomid info there, great site.

You will find so much conflicting info on the net.that its hard to know which is true.....do you have a chart you can post.do the tests show in line with the temps.

Since you do ovulate by yourself as well, have you tried anything else.
clomid only worked couple times for us.but mc sadley,
we went down the natural route.
and I swear this was what made us have a succesful pregnancy.after 7 losses, this is all worked.
fertility tea.also contains vitex.which is a natural form of clomid.it contains lots of brill incredients, which help prepare your womb etc.if you go down this route, you must not use clomid.but its another option if it dont work for you.
good for luteal phase, tastes disqusting mind.but idea is 4 cups a day.up to ovulation.worked for us,after lots and lots of years.im now 37 weeks.

yeah i used opks. also temp charting and self examination of CM and stuff. first response opk showed positive 9 days after the last pill so i mite hv ovulated the next day which is 10days after the last pill. i am also ovulating on my own and clomid is for extra support.

also i just found some questionnaire where a doctor has answered about clomid 3-7 v/s 5-9. i dont know how much of this information is true. this information is not related to luteal phase and clomid but is interesting.

Normally they say you will ovulate within 9 days of last pill.14 day luteal phase is the norm.but 12 onwards is perfectly fine.how do you know you definately ovulate on the day you suspect.do you use ovulation tests.i used both ovulation tests and charting.and found the tests to be inacurate.charting gives you birds eye view of whats happening.I would seriously consider asking your doctor to up your dose to 100mg 50mg didnt do anything for me.maximum you can take is 150mg.but alot of women take 100mg with great success.i wish you all the luck with it,and im sure you will get there, dont give up hope..

@tarajanes
i did not know that taking it on different day can alter the cycle. i will not do so defntly. only recently my cycles hv been regular so i dont wann worsen things.
Infact my cycle lengths were short earlier around 26 - 27days. I took b6 for 2 cycles and from the 2nd cycle of b6, cycle length increased to 31 days which is good. I have 31 days cycle from past 3 months now. Taking clomid from 2 months. But even then i ovulate slightly late. 10 days after the last pill. I thought if I had 14 days luteal phase that would be very ideal and so i wanted to take clomid earlier. But since it might alter the cycles i wont do so now. Thanks for clarifying.

People are put on clomid different days, depending on your history.taking it early can produce more healthy eggs.12 days is honestly fine for a luteal phase.anyhting under is consider fine line.ive been on clomid for many years on and off.as well as all other fertility treatment.
under no circumstances take it any early or later.you are put on the right dose and day depending on your body.
I did actally ovulate by myself but it was used as a booster.you can also try vitamin b6 this will lengthen your luteal phase.
when your taking clomid your doctor will or should be monitoring your body and checking your progesterone level.it maybe that an increase in dosage is needed.
they will only allow you to use clomid for 6 cycles then recommened you stop for couple months.
PLEASE DONT CHANGE YOUR DAY,WITHOUT TALKING TO DOC. it can alter your cycle all together..

12 days I was told is cutting it the big thing is your temp dorpping two days before that as it usually does with any length luteal phase. I would not take the clomid other then what the dr perscribed for you! It will not change things but can hurt things. Taking it later can make you have more estrogen and if you have a short luteal phase then you don't wnat more estrogen but more progesterone.

You need to take you basla body temp to see what is going on. OSme woman need progesterone and not clomid and some need both. I know pleanty of woman who are out on clomid becasue they ahve a slow rise that does not stay up (temps) so the dr thinks they may not be ovulating. Also if you ar elike that your progeserone level will be low and make them think you are not ovulating when you are. does that make since? IM me if you want to know more I will try to help you in any way.

thanks tarajanes, btw do you know why different people r put on different days? since no luck for 2 cycles wid 5-9 days i was thinking of changing it to 3-7 days. But if some one knew the difference and told me that would b really gr8. I am also afraid to change the docs orders especially not knowing the difference.

12 days is considered a good luteal phase, plenty of time for an egg to implant..you should take clomid on the days suggested by your doctor.dont change it without discussing it first.I myself was put on it,cd2 to cd6...clomid wont effect your luteal phase, somtimes clomid makes you o later, but 12 days is fine.
