Maternity Photos???

I was wondering how many of you ladies had photos taken while pregnant? When did you have them done? My SIL's sister is in photography school and is here for the summer and wants to do a Maternity photo shoot for me for my baby shower gift. I'm just not sure when I should schedule it. I was thinking between 28-32weeks. I don't want to be gigantic but I want the baby bump to be noticeable.

Any advice or experience?

I spent a few hours looking on google pictures last night for ideas. I found a lot that I liked but a lot I didn't like. The nude ones were a little over the top. I would like some done where my chest and bottom are wrapped in fabric and belly is bare. I found one I LOVED laying in rose petals and chest and lower area covered in just rose petals. I'm gonna see if I can get that pose done.

I'm getting really excited now!!  We decided to do them when I'm 31wks the week of my baby shower so I can share them at the shower.

I did them with my last baby, #4, becasue I had alwasy wanted to have maternity pics done and didn't want any regrets in case this baby was my last!  I had them done at a professional studio, most were nude/ nearly nude or wrapped in gauzy fabric, a few were me and DH.  Many black and white, LoL -- I wish I had had them done with my first, I would've looked a lot better! = )
I would def take advantage of her offer.  Look at friend's pics or search on-line to get ideas of poses, etc,c that you would like.  Enjoy!!

I'm getting maternity photos done, however I found this amazing lady who does such great work for super cheap! It's only $200 for a maternity photo shoot AND a newborn photo shoot, each session is one to two hours long, and I'll get a cd of alllll the photos :D
For the maternity session she recommended between 30 to 35 weeks is best, so I'm getting it done at 32 lol, and it'll be in her studio and she has a beautiful woody garden in her backyard where we'll also take pictures.
For the newborn ones she's coming to my house once baby is about a week old so they truly are "newborn" :D
She also has tons of props, clothes, and is really open to ideas. We're going to dress my baby girl in a tutu and angel wings <3 lol

For my first I did belly shots every other week, but didn't do more than that.  This is my second pregnancy and I'm planning on doing a photo opp and include my husband, and son in the pics.  I think it would just be great to get some cute pics of my son kissing my belly and stuff.

My husband and did pictures when I was 8 months or so and I love those pictures. We gave them out at my Shower and I still cherish those pictures. We didn't that much because we just went to a place called Picture people and had regular pictures taken. It wasn't especially for expecting couples just regular cute pictures with stomach poses. I actually have one of my  bare stomach with my husband and mine hands on it and I hung it in my daughter room for the longest. I was thinking of doing some of the park this time since it will involve my daughter. I would say after 30 weeks is cool.

Outdoors!

I've never done maternity pictures but my sister-in-law is opening her own photography business and wants to do them with me during my next pregnancy. I would personally get them done in month 6 or 7. You don't want to be so huge that you're swollen and uncomfortable, you know?!

Anyway so we were talking tonight and I told her I'd want to do pictures in the woods. I'd probably want some traditional indoor photos as well but I think being out in nature and being beautifully pregnant is just perfect.

I live in South Eastern Washington and it's Desert climate around the time I would get the pics taken it will be in upper 90's-100's very hot summers here.  Eastern Washington is the green area.

Thats another reason I'm not so sure I would do outdoors it's just gonna be to hot. Even though my baby shower is outdoors at a park.

My best friend is a photographer but she lives in Arizona, She is also pregnant with a girl and due 10 days after me. I already have a trip planned for beginning of December when the girls will be 3 months to have her do professional pictures of them together. I am so excited!

My boyfriends brother also does photography and is really good (he did our Christmas photos) but I would just feel really weird having him do my maternity photos.

I saw you lived in WA so in my opinion an outdoor shoot for sure!!! With all the green it would be beautiful. WA must also have beautiful outdoor lighting for pictures!!!!

Acually I can't really think of many things other than diapers and a few blankets and sleepers, bottles, and formula that are an absolute nesecity for having a baby. Of course I myself have everything there possibly is to have for a baby but I guess none of is "must have". You use them for a few months, some things a year or two then you sell them at a garage sale for a few bucks. Profesional pictures on the otherhand...a lifetime of wonderful memories and something you will cherish forever! I get profesional pics of my girls every month and I will NEVER regret it:) I know not everyone can get monthly pictures but I def recomend getting your materniy shots and at least one session of your kids at one point in their lives:) Just a thought....sorry:)

I was taking pics every week but haven't taken any photos since 15wks and I'll be 23 wks tomorrow.

Limonada-
The only reason I'm getting pictures done is because I'm getting them for free. She's in photography school and needs them for her book. I agree that there are things that are more important to spend money on when a little on is on the way. The reason I never got my $360 coach purse after Christmas. I figured a crib was more important!

She wants to do them the week of my baby shower so I will be 31wks and we can display them at the baby shower.

Now I just have to decide do I want "studio" or "outdoors" style....

I personally just did belly shots each month at home - DH took the photos.  I think there are much more worthwhile things to be spending your money on when you're having a baby (just my opinion - so no flames, please!)  But I think it's great that your SIL who is gifting you with this.....definitely take advantage of it :-)
