Miscarriage of a twin????

Hi all! My best friend found out the day after her wedding (Nov 25th 07) that she was pregnant, she lost the baby about a week later. There was no ultrasound performed nor a D&C-(not sure how to spell it?). She took another pregnancy test not too long after and it was negative. Dec 31st she found out that she was pregnant again. Now, I am almost 4 weeks ahead of her and she is showing just as much as I am, is it possible that she may have miscarried a twin??? Her husband is a twin and so is her father, so we know that it does run in her family. She has not yet had an ultrasound for this pregnancy. I am just trying to get some insight on the situation before the ultrasound, if it is at all possible that she miscarried only one child???

I was pregnnat with 9 friends.  I was due LAST and I showed FIRST!  I have a short torso and my belly was huge!  People commented that I looked like I was having twins.  THANKS right?  no, my baby was under 5 pounds and I only gained 28 pounds.  Everyone shows differently.  My best friend that was 6 weeks ahead of me didnt look pregnant until she was like 7 months!  She's tall and skinny I am short and skinny.  I think it made her sad that when people were out I always got comments on my belly and noone ever knew she was pg...I felt bad so I always had to say "She's PG too!"

most likely what has happened is that she may NOW be carrying twins.  Not that she is still pregnant from the first time.   It IS possible to have miscarried a twin and still be pregnant with the remaining child....HOWEVER since she has had a negative test since then that's probabyl not what happened.

Keep in mind that each woman shows at different times and even each pregnancy for the same woman can show at different times.  Comparing hers to yours really isn't a good indicator of anything.

I would venture to say if when she took another test and it was negative, that she wasn't pregnant with twins. If she was, the test would have been positive. (someone correct me if I am wrong)  Everyone carries and shows differently. I had 2 miscarriages last year (one at 5 weeks the other at 10 weeks...no one even knew I was pregnant) with this pregnancy now I was showing a little bit earlier than normal, I wasn't huge, but had a little bump early on. I just think it has to do with being pregnant before.
