Miscarriage?

I went to my first ultrasound last week and the doctor told me that I am high chance for a miscarriage because they could not find a heart beat. From the date of conception I had only been about 4 weeks and if I understand correctly the heart doesn't beat until week five. They put me on early pregnancy monitoring where they will compare my hormone levels but I haven't had a single symptom of miscarriage. Is it possible that it was just to early to see a heart beat? There was a gest sack and a yolk sack. My cervix is also closed which most of the literature I have been reading said that your cervix opens if it is preparing to carry through a miscarriage. This is my first pregnancy so I am just really confused at how it is possible that quickly to jump to the assumption of a miscarriage. Any information would be helpful.

about october 8th and about three to four days, i understand they go by that date, however I think it was a quick diagnosis without any real information given to me afterwards and seemingly so that there are no other symptoms of miscarriage yet. Still at six weeks it doesn't seem like a concrete observation for a high risk.
