Multiple loses of mucous plug - 17 weeks

im getting really scared now about this. iv turned 17 weeks today and i have just lost a mucousy plug for at least a 3rd time in the space of 3-4 weeks. most days i'll get a little, which i dont mind, but having a lot appear is really alarming. i know it regenerates, and it was not pink or blood stained but im feeling this is going to be a premature baby. i never had this at all with my first pregnancy so i feel it is all new again. any one have something similar? thanks in advance xo

If it's not pink or red I wouldn't worry. With my first pregnancy I had TONS of discharge and was constantly calling my midwife freaking out. Turned out it wasn't my mucus plug, just lots of discharge. With my second, I did have pre-term labor at 27 weeks, but the mucus was tinged with red/pink several times  and contractions and then I was put on bedrest. Some women experience lots of discharge and others hardly anything. But if you start having contractions or bleeding, I would call your doc immediately.

well got the swab, will know if there is infection on monday :/ doubt it though, she says my discharge looks normal. so i can be pretty sure it is my plug, do i prepare for premature labour? would be very glad to see 24 weeks and he is still in there. hope it doesn't happen again although it seems to happen almost weekly.. trying not to stress

I hope you get good news and can relax! We always worry during pregnancy, but it's also good to have reassurance. Hope it all goes well. Let us know!

I only ever had some green discharge with my first pregnancy, and my midwife said as long as it doesn't smell or no other symptoms, it was fine. She said discharge can vary in color/texture from person to person and that even if you think you are losing a lot, it rebuilds very quickly. Mine was always white/yellow/green and sometimes thick or thin. If you are really concerned you could always call and see if they would be willing to check your cervix to make sure it's closed and make sure you have no infections. But usually you would have contractions as well, because that along with the pressure would help your cervix open. I would just try to relax and take it easy. I'm sure everything is just fine.

it just seems to happen too often for my liking, especially being so early on. its green and snotty looking, no smell or anything, its not discharge, my discharge is white/creamy/clear but when i see bits of green i know its bits of the plug. i have not been checked, i phoned a midwife at the hospital to speak to and she said as long as it is not pink or blood stained do not worry, but when i see it i think it could be my cervix opening. its not due to sex or anything because we wear a condom and have not done it in about a week. i thought it may have been sperm and my discharge mizing or something..

Its probably not even your mucous plug... discharge is quite normal. unfortunatly if it is the mucous plug, doc/ob/er wont be able to do anything about it either..... good luck!! dont worry about it. ITs not red/pink/brown/green then you have nothing to worry about!

It MAY not be your mucus plug. Could just be ALOT of discharge. Have you been checked by your dr??
