Multiple miscarriages.....possible cause Protein C

I have had 3 miscarriages in the last 1 1/2yr
We was sent to a fertitlity specialist hoping to find some answers... After getting some blood work done I was informed that my Protein C levels were too high... Has anyone heard of this and can it be the cause of my miscarriages?  I am scheduled to get another test done this weekend to make sure first test was accurate.  If it is, is there treatment and will I be able to have a baby???

Hi DeeDee1980. I have had 4 miscarriages in the last year. I am currently pregnant (1 month) again and just found out today that my Protein C levels were high. My doctor immediately put me on Lovenox injections (30 mg 2x's a day). I am also taking 200 mg of Prometrium a day. The outcome of this treatment seems hopeful. The injections don't hurt. It is a little scary, but my nurse reassured me. The medicine is very expensive (I got 30 days for about $300), but your insurance should pay. The high protein levels causes blood clots in the baby. I also get a weird reaction, rashes and itching. Respond back and we can keep in touch. I don't know anyone else with this disorder... I have an appointment my my ob on Monday to go over test results, so I will let you know what I learn.

Hi hon. I too have had 3 MC's in the last 13 months. I never had any testing until this last pregnancy. I am currently 15w 5d :)  But I went to the doctor adn he ran all kind of tests and nothing came back for me. We think maybe its my b/f's "donation" but it has stuck so far and Im nervous everyday worrying. I have never heard of the Protein C causing it, but its something you could look further into. But mainly I wanted to let you know THERE IS HOPE!  Take good care and good luck!
