My Maternal Grandma has twin boys.. does that increase my chance?

My gram on my moms side ( maternal) has twin identical boys ( my uncles) does that increase the chance that I would have twins? I'm just curious how heridity plays a part in twins..

Identical twins are not heriditary I have heard.  Instead, it is just the splitting of the egg.  Only fraternal twins are heriditary.

My Grandma miscarried twins. We have fairly large family and none of us have had twins......yet. But yes I'm sure that does increase you chances and yes twins generally skip a generation.

My dad is a twin and he says that it skips generations so none of his children were twins but one of us has a higher chance of giving birth to twins. However I think it has to be directly in your line so I'm not sure it would carry since it was your uncle not your mom or dad but I'm not sure.

I've heard it skips a generation although, my friends dad is a twin, he had twin girls, and my friend (being the older sister to the twins) had twin girls.  so it's different in a lot of perspectives!

What I would do is if your really concerned or thrilled about it, you can always ask your doctor if you can find out how many eggs each month your actually ovulating.  That friend of mine, they've all been tested even the actual twins, and they all release two eggs a month!  SO I guess all their chances are skyrocketed!  Just a matter of how many sperm meet the eggs!

it usually skips a generation. my grandmother was a twin, then i was pregnant with twins (miscarried one) and so far those were/are the last twins in the family thus far.

yea, i read the same as kim did...  i was looking up info b/c my chances should've been high.  my granny (my mom's mom) is a twin and my mom is a twin (both are fraternal)...  then it skipped a generation (me and my cousins) so i figured w/ as many pregnancies as i''ve had i was bound to have twins but nope!  i got 4 beautiful children though and they're all pretty close together...  :)

it increases your chances but doesnt mean your going to have twins. i also read that with more pregnancys your chance of having multiples increases.

i was a twin. there are twins in my close family. i did not have twins
