NST?!

Ok, so I'm scheduled for a NST ( non-stress test ) on Friday ( Sept 13 ).

My friend was telling me that she went for a NST and the next day they induced her and she had her baby.

I'm curious to know what some of you have experienced after your first NST at 40+ weeks... and how long after were you scheduled to be induced?

Anyone... ?

Nope... everything is completely normal.  Fluid is perfect and has been the entire time, baby's heart rate is in the 140's and she's a gymnast.  Like I said, I think they just want to do the NST to have it on record since I'm past 40 weeks and then just do an induction.. I'm trying to figure out how long after the induction, once you're past your due date, would they normally schedule you for the actual induction....?

I'm currently 39 wks as of today and i've been having NST's every Tuesday and Fridays .. they basically check if Ur babys heart  rate is good and they hook you up to it  at least 20 minutes there's two leads I for baby and one to check contractions..you may be having contractions with out u knowing and that tracks them. . Have you had an  AFI to ck the baby's fluid?? My fluid was at an 18 last week and as of yesterday is at a 10...which is at borderline normal.  My doctor told me if my fluid drops to a 7 that would be a concern and I will have to be induced... so far I'm not leaking or anything since they did that strip test to ck if my water had broke so idk were my fluid is going good luck Friday!!!

That's what I'm saying.. That's why I think they're just doing this one time NST to make sure baby is good and then possibly induce me after those results, hopefully the next day... smh..

Yeah it makes sense to check on baby since you are 40 weeks. I would think if it shows you're having quite a bit of contractions they would want to induce sooner, but it really just depends on the doctor. :) good luck either way!

I'm dilated only 1 1/2cm since last week.  Having frequent contractions, but nothing that 3-5 minutes apart.  Everything is normal and fine.  I think they are doing it to see why my cervix is posterior still. Like Krissy said, how she wasn't dilating, is pretty much what it is.  I've been the same since the last time they checked me.  I believe they want to do a NST to make SURE the baby isn't stressed so that they can induce me since I'm past my 40 weeks.

It all depends on the reason they are doing an NST. If it is just to see how everything looks and not for a concern it doesn't have anything to do with inducing. I have had many NST for preterm labor so none of mine lead to my inductions.

I'm only 38 weeks have had 2 in past week because I keep having contractions regularly but not dilating as quickly as i should be. My baby was not stressed so they just examined me and streched me out a little to try and see if that would make me dilate the next time contractions start.
